dont worry lolly - charles from the website said the 1st month can be like this - after reading charles email again last night i found i was doing thinks a little differently but as from today i am now doing what the emails from charles says - a few pointers here

1. i was using clear honey - charles recommends raw honey - i have now changed to the closest thing i could find manuka honey
2. charles recommends ground cinammon - so i have now added this to the mixture
3. i was using water in the mixture so i now put 1.5 cups apple juice UNSWEETENED 0.5 cup rice milk & 1 cup of water

here is the ingrediants i am now using

romaine lettuce (4-5 leafs)
a banana
handful pineapple chunks
handful chopped pear
1.5 cups apple juice UNSWEETENED
0.5 cup oatmeal
1 cup of water
1 large carrot
1 celery stick
handful sweet potatoe
handful of butternut squash
handful of  broccoli
handful courgette
a little onion & parsley
1 table spoon manuka honey
2 table spoon flax seed oil
3 table spoon olive oil
2 tea spoons cinnamon
1 juiced lemon
contents of 1 green tea bag

Hi,
I've only been having the shakes for a couple of weeks max, but the last few days I've started to get headaches and I don't normally. Has this anyone else had this? Is it a good/bad sign?
Ana

Yes, I have experienced something similar.  It's called a Herxheimer reaction.  Here is more info:

I recently had a bout of it, and it might be more due to stuff I am taking for colon detox (psyllium husks, triphala) than the shakes themselves.

You should be feeling better soon.  Remember: all this healthy food should ultimately make you feel better, not worse.

steelem, do you find this mixture to have the right texture and level of sweetness?  You are using 3 cups of liquid, whereas I use 0.5 cups (water).  And you are using perhaps more fruit; I no longer add apple juice.  I would think your mixture would yield more than 1 litre of shake, wouldn't have a thick consistency, and would taste a bit sweet.  It's not that any of this is bad really, just different.  I've acquired the taste of my thick, barely sweet green shake.  Personally I think using greens (kale, collards, spinach) is a better choice than courgettes/broccoli/sweet potato/squash, or at least it would be prudent to mix it up.  But hey, what Charles did worked brilliantly for him.  It should also work brilliantly well for others.

Dr. Robert Young in his book says to avoid almost any fruit.
I believe to many he's considered the pioneer on alkalized food.

In his book he lists several foods which he considers to be acidic and some of the choices
are totally different from what you'd see on public alkalizing websites.

He considers the tomato in its raw form to be alkalizing, only when you cook it it becomes acidifying.

The list in his book is also posted here -> You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
Not sure if it's exactly the same, will have to check it.

good point lazza - the texture of my previous shakes was not that of a smooth liquid - it  is now with the cup of water

perhaps im making too much shake - i dont now - just trying to follow the guide somewhat

i reckon im getting about 3.5 pints of shake doing this

got a question though oatmeal is this porridge or is it like soya milk?? if its porridge then thats maybe thats where im going wrong with the process

The shake I make is only 2 pints (about a quart/litre).  3.5 pints must fill the blender to the absolute brim!

Not sure about your oatmeal question.  I stopped oatmeal months ago because I thought it might have contained trace amounts of gluten.  But eliminating oatmeal from my diet had no effect.

steelem, it is still early days for you.  Are you doing any sort of colon cleansing?  You might want start on that.

I haven't really explored this acidic/alkaline business wrt food.  I'd rather not over analyze what I eat; I think it's the simplicity of this shake that makes it so appealing.  However I am also not a big fan of eating too much fruit but this is a consequence of trying to keep my sugar intake to a minimum (..without being obsessive about it).  Keeping sugar intake low is more part of a healthy eating strategy than any sort of direct link in reducing psoriasis.

Thanks Ricky .. already got the coconut oil .. and some coaltar too; what works for one may not work for another sadly.  Am more inclined to agree with Totoro, Lazza, Gareth, Barney, Charles, etc who contribute to this thread, P is diet related for so many of us; and eating more fresh produce whilst cutting out processed / dairy foods .. holds the key .. also adding various supplements !  Other treatments - i.e. creams for external use are only masking the symptoms, not treating the root cause.  But thank you for your advice.
