IMHO, it doesn't matter.  But remember my shakes are only about 1 quart (2 pints) in size, and so drinking it at all in one go is very doable.  If my shakes were something like 1.5 quarts I probably couldn't drink it all at once.

Steelem,

Drinking the shakes in one go or spread over the day I think is pretty much
a lifestyle choice. I like mine spread over the day because it helps stop me snacking
on 'bad' foods. Also a medium/large glass of it isnt too filling and actually pleasant.
( it actually feels like a 'treat' to my brain now).

For myself I also think spreading it over the day and inbetween meals is probably
better for my digestion....but thats only a feeling as I have never tried taking all
the shake at once.

As long as we getting such a good kick of raw veg and fruit during the day, everyday, then
either method cant be bad.

Day 29 - I'm discouraged as heck. I've been following the shake daily with a strict diet. I have implemented a lean supper, usually its pretty clean. My skin is terrible and I am in a lot of pain, so bad I've missed the last couple of days of work. I feel the best if I take the shake and no other food, however I am having a hard time staying that strict. I think it is the caffeine, so I am building up the willpower to quit coffee this weekend. The only thing keeping me sane at the moment is the weight loss, I am really liking being able to fit old jeans.

My Derm has recommended I go on Humira. I can't afford it, so we are lobbying my insurer to pay for it. I think i will go on it if I get approved, I need something.

I am not giving up on the diet. In fact, I am going tomorrow to refresh my supply list. I'm giving this six months (and actually i have grown to really like the taste of the shake). This weekend I am going off of coffee (which will be extremely hard for me, as a hot cup when it's -40 is so nice). So for all of you who are not seeing immediate results either, you better not give up either!!!!!!

Until next week, please take care.

I admire you Nehiyaw ... coz I'm only on day 12 ... but I came off coffee from the start.

However, I'm on juicing regime and can't say there is a tremendous improvement but like you  - but I've always reflected it's a life-long change for me, juicing that is.  I see that Totoro, MC and others can have the odd treat (booze, red meat, etc) now that they are clear without it affecting their P.  I am certainly not as lethargic and haven't noticed a significant weight loss (if any) but my friends have !  Personally I think they're just saying to cheer me up, but I met two yesterday ... and they said I'm glowing !!  LOL !

Fingers crossed you notice real improvements soon.

Hi.  I can totally appreciate your frustration.  If it is any consolation I would say by day 29 the only improvement I saw was a lessening of itching and irritation.  The plaque on my hands and feet were still thick, cracking and awful.  My only suggestions would be to make sure you are indeed 100% off dairy and gluten, and see if there any foods you eat daily which might be a P trigger.  Honestly, I have never heard of caffeine itself being a trigger.  But hey, everyone is unique!!

Wrt eliminating caffeine, I did just this a couple of months before starting the diet.  My caffeine source was Diet Coke, to the tune of 4-5 cans per day ... each and every day since forever.  Although I wasn't on the shake diet my diet was already cleaned up from all junk food.  I think it was because of this that stopping caffeine cold turkey was surprisingly easy.  Maybe some slight, very slight withdrawal symptoms in the first few days.  Then nada.  Since then I have had one or two caffeinated teas and about a third of a Diet Coke (... I threw the rest out because it tasted GROSS!!!)

No change for me either, cut out coffee wks ago no effect.Had a couple of slips lately in the form of wine and potatoes. The positives I have gained so far are I don't seem to be as affected by low blood sugar as I used to be, can now go four hours without food. Also not suffering from heartburn at all, and sometimes it was bad.

I've only just noticed this thread and am very tempted to give it a go - I need to change my diet anyways, I'm not overweight but lets just say the food I eat isn't very good. I've been advised by a friend to stick to white meat (chicken, pork etc) which I'm going to try and do as well as eating the right fruit/vegs (5 a day and all that...). The shake looks disgusting but might give it ago.

If I can remember to I might make a diary on my progress as well as take photos of living proof that this actually works (or doesn't!). Sadly I am one of those people who say I'll do something and then dont but I am determind to be P clear so am prepared to do anything - its really bad right now and is starting to get me down a little.
Never give up trying, never give up hope - keep the faifth.

Paul, I hope you give the shake diet a try.  Some comments/suggestions:

1) In order to have any chance of succeeding you need to take this diet very seriously.  You will need to be terribly strict.  But you should be rewarded at least with excellent health.  And for many, including myself, psoriasis has improved substantially.

2) So long as you sweeten them sufficiently the shakes should actually taste quite good.  You can also vary the contents considerably provided you stuff in at least 7-8 veggies and 2-3 fruits.  I have found the flavor of these veggies to be completely masked by the flavor of fruits; they are 'stealth' veggies: cabbage, carrots, spinach, and all forms of squash.  And I recommend you use banana in each shake during early days.  Great taste, very sweet and adds great texture to the shake.  However since bananas are a bit inflammatory you'll need to use them sparingly once you feel confident with these shakes.

3) As for which meats are good, which are bad ... there is some disagreement.  Non-farmed fish is always good; I strongly recommend eating fish almost daily.  Beef and chicken are okay, especially if they are more of the 'organic' sort, but I feel that until you start seeing positive results in your P you shouldn't eat them every day.  Same goes for eggs.  Pork is probably something you should eat only rarely.  However game meat (eg, venison) is fine.

4) Dairy has proven to be a very strong P trigger for many, including myself.  Wheat (gluten) can be as well but from what I see on these message boards it is less common.  Yet I recommend eliminating both these foods 100% from your diet (..I mean 100%, not 99.9%).  Once your P is clearing you can dabble a bit with these foods to see if you get a negative reaction.  For me I am so paranoid about triggering my P that I won't ever touch dairy again, and I still don't eat gluten even though I am probably not sensitive to it.

5) Lastly, refrain from alcohol and absolutely no wheat-based alcohol (eg, beer).  Refrain from eating nightshades (tomato, potato, peppers).  Refrain from eating sweets and packaged foods.  (By "refrain" I mean you need have these items once in a while.)  Smoking?  People have cleared P through diet and still smoked.  But I cannot imagine it offers anything helpful.

Best of luck whatever you do.

_Lazza

PS - there are other foods people have found to be a P trigger, such as soy and legumes.  So if you have a pet food you eat daily you might want to stop eating it for a few days to see if there is any impact on your P.
