:P :-\

Hi everyone, I am new to this site.

I am 35 years of age and have had psoriasis since I was 21.  I have psoriatic arthritis, and have been under so many treatments from the hospital from topical treatments, PUVA and UVB, and methotrexate by injection, but since stopping the methotrexate to try to conceive my psoriasis has come back as guttate (??) psoriasis.

I am wanting to give the how to beat psoriasis diet, but wanted someone to outline exactly what I can't eat... and the shake do I add all the veg in the list and fruit.... etc...

Advice needed as wanted to start this tomorrow.... need to do something...

HHHEEELLLLPPPP

Thanks

Nikki

If you think caffeine is a trigger for you, don't drink tea either unless it's herbal and caffeine free.  Did you eat an excessive amount of anything recently. Sometimes I find if I eat too much of one thing, I break out.

well, I have now been doing this diet for 2 weeks.
My skin continues to get worse (i.e. no ups and downs, just the the same consistant deterioration I always have  when I stop cyclo until I am 80% covered. Currently perhaps about 50%)
But there is no question of me stopping this diet and barney's regime.  It is still very early days. I will be giving this at least 4 months before i even  allow myself to think about any timescales.

It's great you are getting such obvious and quick reactions to "trigger" food missmini. I have spent the last 2 weeks rigidly sticking to the diet and until I see any improvements and they sustain, I won't be able to see if I have any such triggers.

I think my next step is to replace the oats I use for porridge with quinoa,  just to double check I am totally gluten free.
Still haven't lost any weight, lol which I find astonishing.

That is astonishing. I'm surprised that you are seeing no improvement in your skin. How long ago did you stop cyclo and how long were you on it?
How many times have you used it?

What creams are you using on your skin? You should still be using something topical to help clear because your skin cells are still operating on memory.  I have great success with a little Fougera Fluocinolone Acetonide ointment 0.025% mixed with moisturizer. I'm still using it when I see a little redness or itching after eating a trigger food. Can you get back on cyclo? It would speed up the process and then you could maintain it by diet.

I doubt if the oats are a problem. Unless you are a celiac and any little bit of gluten will set you off, the amount of gluten that might be in oats is tiny. There's no gluten in it naturally...just if it happens to grow near or be processed near wheat.
Are you eating any meat?
You're commitment to the diet for four months is definitely the right way to go. Don't get discouraged.

That is astonishing. I'm surprised that you are seeing no improvement in your skin. I'm not suprised: I would have been very suprised (though very happy) to see such quick improvenment. If you get a reaction just from touching a tomato plant leaf, then you are very sensitive to food issues. And it is fantstic that you have discovered that. Not every one is helped by diet. But it is way to soon to say whether I am or not. Hence will be continuing
How long ago did you stop cyclo and how long were you on it?

I have been on cyclo for the previous 8.5 yrs with several breaks. The side effect become so life limiting after a while that my body has to have a break (severe crushing headaches 5 days out of 7) and this time round blood tests showed the start of kidney damage so had to come off. Won't be allowed back on probably for 6 months. Cyclo also makes me relentless drained & fatigued without break. It never goes away for me.
What creams are you using on your skin? You should still be using something topical to help clear because your skin cells are still operating on memory.
When I stopped cyclo I went straight on to the biologic Humira. We are still waiting for that to kick is, but it hasn't after 7 weeks. That is already playing with my t cells.
Can you get back on cyclo? It would speed up the process and then you could maintain it by diet. I can only maintain with diet, if diet proves to be a trigger for me.
Due to my past P history (which is way too envolved to go into, you'll have to trust me onthis one)many creams don't work on my skin when it is like this. I am no on any medicated creams for my skin other than silkis for my face. I am using seabuckthorne oil and  for my skin at the mo - a really good mosituriser.
I doubt if the oats are a problem. Unless you are a celiac and any little bit of gluten will set you off, the amount of gluten that might be in oats is tiny. There's no gluten in it naturally...just if it happens to grow near or be processed near wheat.  I agree, they are unlikely to be a problem, but I have severe and rampant P so I need to know I have covered every possibility speciaally when I am going to so much effort with the rest of my diet.
Are you eating any meat?  yes. I'd ratherchuck myself of a bridge rather than go vegetarian at the mo :D. Organic chicken is probably fine & tuna steaks. Listening to my body in the past has taught me that I my body needs some meat in my diet.
You're commitment to the diet for four months is definitely the right way to go. Don't get discouraged. Too soon to allow myself to feel discouraged. Head over feelings on this matter.[/quote]
