Aromatherapy for newbies
« on: May 15, 2011, 04:12:04 PM »
Anyone doing it for concentration and destress ? Which essential oils to recommend for a newbie ?
I just bought a pine oil since I so love forest smell and there are some excellent deals online. I also want
to learn to make soaps, shampoos and cleaning products with it in time. I think I am sick of the commercial
stuff though.

Hi Vladex,

I too love aromatherapy oils and find some particularly beneficial for dry skin, for instance rosemary is particularly good.  One website suggests
essential oils of lavender, geranium, neroli, rosemary, and rose -- are particularly suitable. These essential oils are also thought to rejuvenate skin by encouraging new cell growth. Other excellent oils to use on dry skin are frankincense, myrrh, and sandalwood.   Be careful tho when using, ensure that you dilute appropriately and in best carrier oil - alternatively add 5 drops to bath and soak - that's generally what I do !

One oil I now use daily is Tea Tree Oil - as I'm in the pool each day now and its known for  its anti-fungal properties.

Also Psycho Kitten here will have a few tips I reckon if you contact her directly - she'll point you in right direction.

Hope this helps,

there is lots of good material by just googling aromatherapy like this one . I definitelly believe that there is a great link between the air we breathe and the general health and there is a clear science behind it as well.
