My understanding of the law on mushies is that it's legal to pick them fresh (and presumably use eat them) as they grow wild. But the moment you dry them, cook them, make them into tea, then you are preparing them and that makes them illegal.

I can't do them though, they make me depressed and cry!!

Yep...perfectly legal fresh but not dry or prepared for use (weird law  ::)).

My childhood home on the Ashdown Forest in Sussex was mush heaven (for those who liked them  ;D).

Can't stand them myself...
