Based upon what I have read gluten, milk, and soy most commonly cause immune reactions in people. Beans in general are not as good for you as you might think. I am eating them as they provide protein and are included in the bags of frozen mixed vegetables that I buy -more on beans later. I'm sure some of you are saying (in the UK) "Bloody hell what do you eat?" -like my accent? Pairing down the diet can make one feel as if they can't eat anything, but as far as I am concerned I can eat anything. I choose to eat milk free and gluten free because I know the health benefits for me.
Re: Citris Fruits -I have been eating most apples and bananas because I like them best. Bananas are very portable and make a great part of my breakfast. I had an orange tonight. Citrus fruits are more expensive and hard to peel. A pinapple is $4 USD, an 8 pound bag of oranges are $9, and bananas are $.69/pound. (The EU police can convert these numbers to GBP and kilos). I do have a few oranges a week and I do like lemon juice in the hummus and fish that I make. I have taken a vitamin D and folic acid supplement about three times in the 4 weeks that I have been on this new diet. I can't comment on Barney's formula. My guess is that if Barney's formula is working for people (and this is a guess) then these people probably have an absorption problem which may be caused by a gluten/casein or other intolerance. People intolerant to gluten often have low levels of iron, zinc and folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin D, etc. etc.
Cassie - Are your supplements gluten free? Read the side of the package. Don't worry about redness fading immediately. It takes time! Imagine how many skin cells are built up on a lesion. Then imagine that your skin suddenly goes from producing a new skin cell every 3 days to every 30 days. I would imagine it takes a long time to push out the skin that is in the queue. and heal the area There are also capillaries that have been created and I believe that exposure to sunlight is beneficial to make them retreat. I have also read that glycerin helps some people with the redness. One more thing -an adult (if they have a gluten intolerance) could take 6 months to 2 years for their intestines to heal.
If the gluten free doesn't do it then begin eliminating milk, nightshades, then peanuts, then soy.
