yes calcium tablets with me didnt agree at all - scratch you not tried rice milk ?? a great source of calcium & tastes really good put that with a wholegrain cereal or oats mix in some fruit such as blueberries & bananas - a great start to the day & loads of Calcium

And I'm cuting a little bit fruits because I still don't know whether my P comes from excessive candida..or even mercury from dental filings (which will be soon removed), or simply leaky gut...

Along the years and experiences with food I came to the conclusion that my P is caused by one of those 3 suspects or the 3 at the same time I'm not doctor...:

Candida
Mercury dental filings (damn 13 filings in my mouth)
Leaky gut

Needless to say that if one day I can be 100% for one of them, food will always remain the root of those 3 problems.

If it wasn't for shitty food I wouldn't had put 13 dental filings in my mouth while a kid/adolescents. If it wasn't for shitty food I wouldn't have experienced die-off or Herxeimer reaction of candida (thank G.d I did!!) while on a raw vegan diet and green smoothies. The same applies to leaky gut syndrome which is caused by chronic SAD diet..

By the way, no one knows if candida causes leaky gut, or if it is the later which may promote candida overgrowth..but a P sufferer has to be a real retard to at least not try during 2-3 months the food healthy and FREE way..

so scratch im interested give me a typical daily intake of foods - how long have you been doing it for - what supps are you doing? also how did you know you got candida - were you tested ??

Well, I'm mainly on my raw vegan diet +/- meat&fish to save time. Got back on fish&meat since 2-3months and I've  been sticking with the diet since herxeimer reaction which happenned back in june 2011 (if it is candida fungus that I have, I hope it didn't get used to this diet...)

This morning was:

-1 Cup of mineral water with freshly squizzed organic lemon.
5minutes later...
-Salad made of spinach,avocado, corn salade(mâche) and romain letuce (organic), plus I put organic olive oil in everything
-30grams of non-GMO Pea protein (now foods brand) blended with half of a tiny banana(organic), some pomegranate seeds and mineral water.

>1000mg of calcium carbonate which has 9000mg of vitamin C and 100mg of calcium, from solgar (so far this kind of calcium&its amount are ok for my skin but no near the minimal intake advised everywhere)
>2 ginsengs from vitacost x 800mg

at lunch:

- 2 cups of mineral water
- Everything raw: carrots(organic),1 cucumber(organic), 1 zucchini, 1 avocado, a handful of brocolis,a handful of spinach(organic),1 stick of celeri(organic), loads of turmeric(organic), oregano(organic),basilic, herbs(most of them organic)..
- the same salad as above
- +/-100gm of steamed organic chicken
-1 poached egg (egg seems to be ok for me and the one's I eat are organic and from local farms)
- Some almonds (I'm letting them soak in water during 12h to see if it turns them edible for people with P, byebye phytic acid)
I put organic olive oil in everything
>3 omega 3 pills (for a total of 1050mg EPA and 150mg DHA) from isodisnatura
>5000IU of vitamin D3 (Carlson's)
>2 pills of turmeric with bioperin from vitacost brand

My P doesn't get worse even though my sleep has been pretty messed up, but it doesn't get better neither

I'll see what I do for dinner..but I'll have kale as always for dinners

No uvb (no time), no sun (not available where I live/work). That has always been the big flaw in my healing trials, but I've confirmed that sun is not effective for me a while ago during summer vacations so..
Showering with "Iralfaris", european brand of shower gel made specifically for P skin.

No moisturising for me, got tired of doing it a long time ago, plus I hate creams. But I've noticed that if I rub olive oil mixed to a little bit of turmeric, the skin starts to clear and getting thinner, and it's really fast like steroïds

scratchy when i was last at the hospital this woman gave me this hydromol to shower with - now i get to moisturise in the shower - just nice and easy smoother myself in this stuff and thats it - now comes the interesting part these spots that came up are only where i cannot get the hydromol too on the back - but i suppose you really wanna be clear to do all these types of things but for me this stuff is brilliant - im not sure how long you have been on the diet for but for me the only sun that has cleared my p before now is that of somehere like cancun or tenerife types of sun in the summertime - ive never had much succcess with Brittish summer time or even spanish sun it really needs to be that 30+ deg or maybe its somet to do the closer you are to the equator anyhow up until a year ago my diet was still poor so maybe if i had done diet then wait for british sun maybe it would have been far different.. where you live are you taking d3 supps instead??

So where do you get your calcium from ?

From suitable alternatives for people who are lactose intolerant:

Mainly calcium-fortified rice milks, raw almonds and almond milk, sesame seeds (tahini), tempeh, sprouted vegetables (alfalfa), beans, fresh & dried figs, kale, broccoli, and other leafy greens such as bok choy. And I occasionally have baked salmon.

EDIT: Almost forgot: a superfood such as a certified organic freeze-dried green powder (like Barley Grass or Spirulina) are other good sources. I often put a tablespoon of green powder into a smoothie or vegetable juice.

There are quite a few more foods out there that contain calcium, the above is just a list of what I eat. For Example: blackstrap molasses is very high in calcium, but I don't eat it.  Although I like tempeh occasionally, I avoid most other soy. But soy is another excellent source of calcium.

I don’t take a supplement for calcium but am happy to do so if need be. You can get vegan versions that are completely lactose/cow-free.

I had my annual blood tests done to check for any potential deficiencies last month, and everything came back A1 perfect. So must be doing something right somewhere.

Calcium supplements gave me the nastiest rash ever, my face, and only that, was awfully covered within a week!


There are many different types of calcium sources used in supplements.

So if you react badly to one type of supplement; you should perhaps try another.

For example: I have an allergy to beef and an intolerance to dairy. So to be on the safe side, I will avoid all calcium tablets that contain bone derived from cows.

Also the cheaper untested brands may cause reactions, as they don’t absorb well or can contain dodgy artificial fillers.

So always buy from the top quality “Practitioner Only” range, which are prescription-only and prescribed by doctors and naturopaths. You are less likely to react to the better quality brands.

So does anyone else here get annual health checks?

Every January I get a blood test done to check my health. I check for general issues like diabetics and liver function. I also check for levels of magnesium, B12, Vit D, etc...

It costs me $100 to get the test, although this year my doctor claimed the tests for free. It is only one blood test, and you choose the things you want to test for. The first year I only got tested for diabetics and liver. But every year since, I make sure I ask for everything I can think of. It costs the same whether I have one or ten items checked, so I may as well utilise it to its fullest capacity.

I think these annual health checks are important for anyone but absolutely vital for everyone with any sort of health issue. When I have suggested them in the past, forum members say they can’t afford health checks or don’t want to waste money. To that I would say you can’t afford not to test! People are quite happy to spend money on doctors and medications, or even on supplements that they may not even need. So it does not make sense to me to avoid doing something once a year that may be of great benefit.

The first year I had the test I was found to be dangerously close to developing diabetics. There were no outer signs or signals which made the results of the blood test even scarier. But being forewarned meant that I could do something about it. I changed my diet and started exercising. Upon my next blood test, I was found to have completely reversed the threat.

This year the results have been particularly good. Despite all the doom and gloom aimed at vegans about B12, my levels are perfect even though I don’t supplement. I have been supplementing with Vitamin D in the past year though and my levels are now really good.

So the point being; there is not much point second guessing or self-diagnosing on this issue. If you are concerned about your calcium needs, then get a blood test to check on your current levels. At least you will then know how to proceed further from there. 

Adequate daily intakes of calcium vary according to age and weight (and health issues), so I may not need as much as you.
