Dead Sea Mud Wraps & Flotation Pools.
« on: March 26, 2004, 05:39:56 PM »
I was given  some gift vouchers for a Heath Spa recently, and when I looked at the place ( Nirvana ) they do Dead Sea mud wraps and they also have a flotation pool. I was wondering if anyone had experience of this type of beauty treatment and if it helped their p.
I have the number for the Spa but must admit to having 'p angst' about asking them about it at the moment . Have bad memories of hairdresser & beauty salon telling me they would only treat me if I had a doctors note to say it was ok. Put me right off.

Any comments welcome.

When I was training to be a comp therapist I was told that you always had to consult the gp or consultant if the client was already undergoing some form of treatment.  It can adversely affect your insurance if something should happen and you hadn't sought permission.  Also, professional ethics and all that.

I've only needed to seek permission on 2 occasions, and was granted on both.  Better safe than sorry..........

My mum and sister went to a health spa down in the western part of the country for a day and brought me back something called a 'peat bath'. Its a tub of mud that you add to the bath. It was quite good at soothing the p. Can't remember how much it cost but I can try and find out.

Hi ww
I am sure floatation pools are for relaxation and would only help if you felt stress was causing p to be worse, also need regular sessions not just one.
Have had dead sea mud wraps in the past, in salons here and at the dead sea.  They sooth the skin but I did not notice any reduction in p from it.
Hope this helps we are striving for 'the ultimate answer' hope one day we all find it Joy

Well I rang them up, they do 'Dead Sea exofoliations' and the flotation pool is a  pool they have that they add Dead Sea minerals into. One of the few in the country apparently.Which is where the float comes from. So is for relaxation but is also for minerals to sooth skin.

The woman didn't know anything about the link between dead sea and p, and didn't know much about p. She asked me if the salts would irritate my 'sores'.

I rang in the evening so intend to call back during the day and get to speak to somone who maybe knows a bit more. I really want to avoid the situation where I turn up, someone looks at my skin and decides they don't know much about it so don't want to deal with it. Which may be  an isolating experience .

Will let you know  how I get on. Thanks for your help.

Hi WW

I live near Nirvana and have been there before - never had any probs.  I did call before I went but I was only using the spa.  Have seen the flotation pools and really want to go but it's so  blimmin expensive!!  Probably best to call and speak to the instructor who specialises in the flotation pools tho.

Nirvana is seriously gorgeous! Am sure you will love it!  :-*

WW.

A colleague of mine recently went to Nirvana and had a session in the flotation pool.
She doesn't have P or any other skin condition but brought a magazine back for me with an article about the treatmetn.

Have you got a fax number you could IM me and I'll send you a copy through.

OH YAY my boyf just bought me a weekend here I sooo excited.. he got a really good deal on line at lastminute i think for anyone who cant afford it was two nights hotel including dinner and brekkie.. yumm who can live without food.. like ever! and a day at the spa with use of everything though you have to pay extra for massages and stuff....

Oh I so excited, I was going to ask same questions though about P.. I know it will be ok as nothing really bothers my skin just others reaction to it!

If you go soon let me know how you get on. we aren't planning to go for at least month or two so would love to know how you find it!
