Dead Sea Salt Products (boots) please look :-)
« on: June 09, 2010, 11:52:10 PM »
Hi

While in Boots recently, I came across some Dea Sea products. I was wondering whether anyone has used these products and if they are any good? I know alot of places say the salts are genuine but there not, I dont really want to buy without hearing some reviews first.

Here is a link to show you the products I have found at Boots.

If anyone would reply, I would be very greatful

Thank you

Hi Amy,

I got the dead sea shampoo a few weeks back as a result of my P spreading to behind one of my ears. I only used it a few times because it left my hair not feeling very clean. It smelt very strong, which i actually quite liked, and the flakes on my scalp didnt feel as easily pick-able, but i gave up after then as my hair just felt grim. I think i will give it another go though, and if i could use a normal shampoo afterwards (not sure if this would have an detrimental effect?) then i would deffo be happier!
Hope this helps! xx

Hi Amy,

Boots do two different ranges. The one I find works for me is their dead sea with frankenscense (sorry, bad spelling!) oil. It stings like hell on open skin but I try hard to withstand the pain! I exfoliate with it and not only does the salt help, the oil works as a great moisturiser. The salt makes me skin a little red at first but after an hour of so it leaves my skin flatter and smoother.

I didn't like the shampoo - I use Neutrogena T-Gel which got rid of my scalp flakes within a week of use. My sister has just started using T-Gel, her scalp is clearing after 3 uses. Though it stinks!! Its tar based. I just try and use a nice conditioner on the ends of my hair afterwards to disguise the smell!

Hope that helps,

Hanna x

I had the dead sea bath salts from Boots for a while. It helped but not enough to justify the expense. It's about £7 a kilo I think from memory and that basically made 2 baths for me!!!!

I have since found a more economical source, mail order 20KG at a time for about £40. Hence about £2 per kilo which for me is worth it. I bath every other day in using about 1 kilo per bath and soak for a while to get the scales off. Moisturise tons after. It seems to be quite relieving if not healing as such.

PM me if you want to know about where the bulk salt comes from, I don't want to upset anyone by 'advertising' a particular product on the forum.
