Diet diary

As I mentioned before have been trying special diet to improve p and pa (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login)

I am not allowed to eat anything that is not wholemeal bread (or even cake, cookies, pasta have to be wholemeal), no sugar (except for honey - thank god!), no milk products or anythings else that comes from animals (egg, meat, fish), no black or green tea or coffe, officially not even soya milk (but allowed rice milk).
Loads of fresh an uncooked fruit and vegetables.

Have been sticking to that for more than a week now and have been going surprisingly well on it.

I've been busy growing my own sprouts and cooking all meals myself (have even started baking own bread, but first attempt was very feeble and pathetic ::))

I cannot say if it has changed anything for my p or pa as my rheumy has put me on steroids at the same time which kind of kicked in, but I feel good doing the diet.
I enjoy preparing my own lunches (every day intrigued what the others have to eat in the cantine ;D).

Have not managed to avoid egg completely, but have kept it down to a minimum (e.g. one egg in a cake that has lasted for over a week now and is still more than half in the freezer left - hmmm yummy: banana bread with nuts and honey: soooo good not only on a diet :D). That will have to do ::)

Only thing I don't like about is it that it makes you so unflexible. No eating out, no quick snack in between.

But have noticed that I started appreciating sweetness a lot more (one teaspoon of honey in tea and I am real happy - like x-mas and birthday on the same day ;)).

Will see how long I keep going, but at least now confident enough to  oppen a thread about it (long may it last ;D ;D ;D)

Good for you!

I'm starting dairy-free tomorrow to see if will help shift a few stubborn patches.

You can't even drink green tea? I thought that it was good for you.

Good luck!  :)

Good luck! I have just had to cut dairy out due to stomach problems (nothing to do with p). Very difficult as so much food does contain milk!!!!!! As for cutting the rest of the stuff out that must be a nightmare!!!

it is very strange how the p is so different and individual. i was dairy, caffeine, alcohol, meat free for two years (a very long two years i might add) and it had no affect on my p at all.

on the upside the first 2 pints i had got me soooo drunk i didnt need more ;D

good luck with the diet, i hope it has better effects for you.

:) :) :)
Move along, there's nothing to see here!!!

I think if it has no visible effect I wouldn't be able to stand 2 years (not even two months I gues ll ::))

I also wanted to say that when you do something productive like stick to the healthier options it does boast your self esteeem which can only have positive effects on your body as a whole including p. ::)

Still sticking to the diet, though allowed myself the occasional lapse while e.g. in Sweden (difficult to stick to a diet in another environment, as you have to find out where to buy the special products etc).
Have not noticed any great improvements on my skin or my joints, but do have to say I feel better on the whole. I enjoy eating the stuff I do (plus the cooking) and I don't feel sick as often as I used to do. And I feel hungry less often. So will keep sticking to it and see if still anything else p-related should positively come my way :D
