Dr. Michael Tirant's Psoriasis & Skin Clinic in Australia
« on: April 04, 2007, 01:00:52 AM »
Hello everyone,

New poster and P sufferer logging on for the 1st time.. Have P about a year, think it was brought on by a combination of a Strep throat and also possibly after I had used a scabies treatment on my skin.... Had been to an orphanage in Vietnam and needed to treat myself for scabies afterwards... The lotion for scabies seemed very severe on the skin at the time.. Anyhoo, it started as  3 small patches on my left arm, not I would estimate that I am about 1-2% covered.... Plaque P, and I'm becoming an excellent flaker... Doc has prescribed me pure pencillin for a month to try to kill the ongoing strep throat, not too optimistic about that and can't even contemplate a tonsilectomy... Went to a derm before Christmas... she was utterly dismissive about any dietary link... looked at me somewhat pityingly when i suggested it... and she prescribed... yes wait for it... Dovobet and Dovonex.... Used it very cautiously.... but immediately saw the patches worsening.... It cleared in certain areas and simultaneously flared in others.... Stopped that pretty quickly.

SO....on FlakeHq...Ed Dewke's brilliant p website, I saw reference to a Dr. Michael Tirant in oz... Two posters said that they had great success..  I e-mailed them, they do an international treatment, you pay and then e-mail them some images of your skin and they advise you... You pay again (about 140 Euro) and then a box of tricks arrives in the post...

I am about to start the regime this week, which involves the following:  A sort of mini Pagano diet, ie all the obvious no no's (but not quite as rigid) and then 3 different bottles of dietary supplements one of which is called an alkanising formula... (so there's a Pagano link there) and then one which seems to be full of natural antioxidants and herb based elements (so there's a Mega Man link there), then you have to shower twice a day with two tubes... One is a tar based wash which you leave on in the shower for a couple of minutes and wash off, and then you moisturise afterwards with a scalp and body ointment which is packed full of natural good things...

So... if you look at the content of a lot of the recent posts... this regime seems to encompass many elements of them, and obviously the basic premise is to cleanse the inside of the body whilst cleansing and moisturising the outside of the body...

Interested browsers should click onto **URL Removed** and see what you think.. He is definitely sincere in his treatments and as I recall one poster to Flake.HQ found complete success with this regime... And in a relatively short time, I think about one month or so...

To get into the swing of things I have, in the last month eliminated dairy, wheat (as much as possible), sugar, alcohol and red meat.., oh of course and caffeine, I actually miss caffeine based tea more than I miss alcohol!  Never thought I would say that!!!!!.

I will post and inform people how I progress, sorry I have not started the regime completely yet, but I am having a new bathroom fitted and I dont' yet have a working shower!! Am like a refugee, begging showers off family and neighbours... SO, don't wish to ruin my chances by not doing it all at the one time... Also, finally am walking the dog each evening and doing yoga to get excercise and to learn how to relax and breathe deeply etc. etc.  If nothing else I will be as pure as the driven snow!!!

My sympathies to all fellow sufferers, I am 39 and am still in huge denial that I have this condition, (it's easier in the winter months to deny it...) and I am fortunate in that I have no scalp or nail P, but it's a godawful condition, so my resolve is to GET RID OF IT... and I am optimistic that I will be successful!!!

Watch this space....D

Hello all,

I'm back again.  I noticed that my post disappeared for a couple of days and I was concerned that it might have been perceived as an advert or something slightly sinister... but hopefully not... as this is not the intention.. I now have a working bathroom and so have embarked on the regime of twice daily showering with the skin wash and then applying Dr. Tirant's skin moisturiser afterwards. I have also started taking the dietary supplements.  If I mis-titled them last time, they are as follows:  Alkalising Formula, Skin Intensive, and Bioxan... "the ultimate antioxidant".  The ingredients are clearly written on each bottle, and they appear to only contain natural herbal extracts... (For anyone interested I would be happy to type the list for the Forum).  This is day two and I can report the following... I am feeling slightly nauseous from the tablets but my skin is feeling very soft and there is no flaking and therefore no itching... My skin has the scalded look when there is no dry skin visible on top.. but no worse than that..

The tablets are obviously having a de-toxifying effect, similar to that when I cut out caffeine completely about a month ago.. I suffered badly with terrible headaches and nausea for 3 days then..

It's early days, but I will log on and report my levels of success, I am counting on this regime working because I did about 5 sessions of sun-bed treatments a couple of weeks ago, and there was absolutely no change in my skin....

With respect to the diet, I am trying to cut out all the elements that I mentioned in my first post, but it is very difficult.  For example I was out for dinner last night with my husband, and the hostess had made a caprese salad for the starter... yes, tomato and mozzarella cheese, with balsamic vinegar on top!  I love it, but I didn't want to eat it last night... so I took a deep breath and cleared my plate... Couldn't face having to make the grand announcement as to why I might not have eaten it, and the attention that would have resulted.

It would be great to hear of some good recipes or ideas for breakfasts as I seem to be eating the same stuff each day.. Banana on dry wholewheat bread for breakfast is fairly boring.

Anyway, here's hoping that the combination of all elements in this treatment will make for some good posts in the next few weeks.

D

Day Three:

Still feeling pretty grim after each set of tablets, nauseous and slightly light headed... It goes away after an hour or so, but I have spent most of the day feeling a bit 'off'... Made the mistake of having one, well no two, glasses of wine yesterday and probably undid most of the work... Skin was itching like crazy last night, had to be as a result of the alcohol.  I felt so stupid for not having self control.  Anyway, we had a family Easter Sunday lunch today and I drank sparkling water the entire time... This evening I can observe that the lesions are neither hot nor itchy and although they are dry, there is slightly less redness in some of them.  All in all, I am quite pleased with three days..

Day four I think, and I finally am no longer feeling nauseous all day, as obviously the de-toxifying process is becoming less upsetting to the overall equilibrium!....

However, am pretty disillusioned overall, I KNOW that there could not be any tangible improvement in 3 days, but my skin seems to be even itchier than usual and I was literally tearing at it before my evening shower... And after the shower it is so livid and bright red that I wonder if I am doing any good at all..

Sat out in the sunshine this afternoon, not something I generally do as I am an extremely white skinned Irish person, but nevertheless wanted to let some sun at the two P spots on my face... Has anyone experienced discomfort after sitting in the sun?  One of my arms which has 4 large lesions on it, seemed very uncomfortable and slightly burning after an hour or so of late evening (April) sun....

All in all, I am a bit fed up and finally realising that I have this condition for probably a long time and it's a long road to remission or recovery...

However, was on Ed Dewke's website again last night Flake HQ and he interviewed an American dietician who had chronic P and PA to the extent that she could not drive.. and she has apparently cured herself with dietary methods... So the evidence is there. I just have to perservere...

Night all...

Hi Stewart,

I was a bit gutted this morning to check the website and see that you actually think I am sort of con-artist or something.  I'm not, but I can understand that the idea of new people logging on, purporting to have the latest miracle cure is, perhaps not credible...I am going to keep on this regime for a while longer and maybe it would be better it I post again in a few weeks time, with, hopefully some good news to report..
Sorry if I am hogging the airwaves, don't mean to, my condition is genuine (not chronic yet, thankfully) but nevertheless genuine.. I was anxious to post any new information as soon I found it, as I could see that the PHO resource is a huge help and comfort to other p sufferers.
Anyway, not to worry, I'll keep reading.. BTW why would you think that my posts were not sincere?

It can be hard being a newbie, particularly if you are trying something alternative and want to share the process or results on the forums...

We try and have a 'live and let live' policy here. There are R&Rs on the forum. I am sure you are aware of them, but sometimes members are suspicious of newbies.

I wish you luck with your regime and keep up with it!

one of our posts that had nothing to do with this treatment got hijacked by again a first time poster who then dissappeared after making one post(despite no one saying anything to them),  only a week or so ago. Sothis product has already "appeared via a newbie", secondly when i read your progress report, i found elements that suggested to me that this is a commerical plant, or i wouldnt have said it.  i tried to keep my comment inoffesnive whilst making the point that i do think it reads like a commerically based posting.

i am certainly not suspicious of all first time posters but i am in this case. No one here is stopping you doing anything carry on, if you are being honest then fair play to you, you have nothing to hide. Becoming an active memebr of the community for a long time and posting on other posts usually stop mean people like me thinking the worst of you. if u r genuine thenim sorry for any undue hurt u feel..

   ;)

Point taken Stewart.. You have senstive radar to people who may be abusing the openness of the forum... I think that my enthusiasm might have been founded in a huge desire to actually see change as fast as I seemed to be reading it from others !

One other question, has anyone ever had a RAST allergy test done to see if they have a food intolerance or allergy?  Was thinking of having this done..For example my skin is quite calm this morning and I have only eaten two bananas and an apple and fruit tea..
