Elemis and KÉRASTASE products for scalp
« on: June 26, 2010, 10:42:31 PM »
I started to use Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt  and find it excellent on my scalp which never cleared despite having uvb and sticking to healthy eating plan.  Well last night, I put a little of this oil on a patch and washed out this morning with KÉRASTASE Bain Gommage  (for dehydrated scalp) and found it soooo good.

Today I popped into Holland and Barrett and got Joboba Oil which it is advised to use for at least 15 mins as a hot oil treatment altho I may leave it overnight as I've read here that others suggest that.

My question - have any others had terrific results with both of those products?

Will update results weekly, meantime, keep fingers crossed !

Hi BB

Many moons ago I used the Kérastase range. But I gave up as the product was too expensive for me to keep going. At that time you could only buy the range from a hairdressing salon, which made it more expensive. Things seem to have changed since then.

I don't remember it helping my scalp but it certainly didn't make it any worse. And my hair felt great.

I have never heard of Elemis Exotic Frangipani Monoi Moisture Melt. Sounds wonderful though and my favourite flower is the Frangipani (got some in a pot outside my bedroom window and the scent in summer is glorious) - does it contain natural or artificial ingredients or both?

The only shampoo & conditioner I have ever successfully used with a P scalp outbreak was the [Al'chemy] Unscented, Very Gentle range:

Hi MC.,

Good to hear from you.  To answer your question re Elemis - I don't know if ingredients are purely natural but net says it's a  blend of Coconut Coprah Oil and sweet scented Frangipani flowers to  provide  long-lasting hydration properties to seal in moisture and leave skin silky soft.  It seems to ease itch on scalp and certainly leaves hair and scalp much softer.

My initial post a bit dated now, since starting MTX some 4 or 5 months ago, haven't got a problem with scalp.  My hair has actually gone from dry to greasy !  Amazing that ... haven't noticed significant hairloss as a result of MTX and so far, so good am pleased with results.

The elemis and Kérastase products certainly seem to have helped in the past;
I've used diprosalic as advised by Derm  cocois at night, wash out flakes and then apply diprosalic solution which was pretty effective.
I've also got some Rainforest (SLS free) shampoo from the Body Shop which lathers well - not sure it would work alone tho if scalp is pretty scaly.

Mine (my scalp) has never been noticeable, only to the hairdresser - its now cleared with MTX but I continue to use more expensive products hoping that somehow they make a difference.  Ooo forgot, have used T-gel as well as advised by others here - worked well - xamiol tho caused my P to worsen.  Just goes to confirm what we suspect - what works for one might cause a flare in another.

Have tried and had relief by Aveeno Menthol based lotion on P patches on arms, but ... surprisingly when used something similar - peppermint/menthol combo at hairdressers, thought I'd pass out - it was like pins / needles on my scalp  :(

Think perhaps one of the best is the sls Rainforest range at the Bodyshop if clear - as I am now.  A little goes a long way and its not too expensive.

Thanks for advice  :)
