good article on gluten sensitivity...

Here is a link to a lengthy, intelligent yet easily understood on gluten sensitivity:

A couple of quotes:

"half of the approximately 60 million people in the U.S. who suffer from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are probably sensitive to gluten"

"While celiac disease affects about 1 percent of the U.S. population, experts estimate that as many as 10 percent have a related and poorly understood condition known as non-celiac gluten intolerance (NCGI), or gluten sensitivity. "

"Gluten is fairly indigestable in all people.  There's probably some kind of gluten intolerance in all of us."

"Gluten intolerance "starts in the intestines as a process, but doesn't necessarily stay in the intestines. It may affect other organs."

**************

I'm beginning to think that gluten, especially consumed in quantity, is simply not a good food choice.  Even if one can tolerate gluten one should place it on their "best avoided" food list.  This is especially true for psoriatics.

Hi there,
I am new to the forum, have been a coeliac for 18 years and almost as long with psoriatic arthritis it has not been mentioned to me that there is a link between the two by any medic. It makes sense though.
hello its me!!! :)

Interesting article.  Thanks for posting.  I was gluten free in December 2010.  Gluten free in March and April 2011.  I ate very little gluten in January and February 2011.  I can honestly tell you I did not feel any different than I did before December 2010.  I did not feel better at the end of December 2010.  I did not feel any worse or different after eating a gluten meal in Jan/Feb 2011.  2 months of no gluten, I feel the same as I always do (and I feel absolutely fine).
