LoginHemp oil and seeds are expensive in Holland (mostly available in coffeshops and drugrelated).
However industrial hemp seed is available in pet shops (at least in Holland) and is sold as birdseed.
I bought 2lbs of single hemp seed (euro 1,98) and spent a couple of days experimenting to get the good stuff out of the seeds.
Coldpressing them is best, but i did not manage to get that done.
Just soaking or cooking the seeds did not work either, but i found out that you have to grain or crush the seeds first.
Than put pan with boiling water on the stove and leave the seeds au bain marie in the pan untill white stuff (like butter) comes out of the seeds, stirr regularly and add a little water. After an hour or so most of the white stuff has melted out of the grained seeds. Depending on how much water is added it turns into a white liquid substance like body milk.
Drain through a clean cloth or siff. You can use it directly on the skin.
My husband uses it topically (don't think it is suitable for digestive use) for 4 days now, trial on one hand and his scalp: it is not greasy or sticky, works against itch, less scaling en less redness so far.
You can also mix it with some basic cream, or honey, or whatever you like and the remains of the seeds can be used as a body scrub to remove flakes (apply gently).
It is a bit time-consuming to make, but it is cheap, natural and no side-effects on my husband so far.
I started with a cup of seeds, to get a small portion, because i don't how long and at what temperature it can be stored.
Maybe this info is usefull to someone else too.
