Here is the information from the diet doctors
« on: January 19, 2006, 09:44:53 PM »
I transcribed this from the programme, but remember they werent just dealing with her psoriasis.
I am not sure i caught everything (especially "what to eat" so please add whatever you rememebr.

Some signs to watchout for
--------------------------------
Big tongue = digestive problems
Pale = tired

 Low stomach acid
----------------------------------
SOME dotors believe that heartburn notonly can be a sympton of HIGH stomach acid it canbe a sympton of low stomach acid. assuch taking heartburn tablets may worsen the problem as they neurtralisewhat little stomach acid u have..

a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate on empty stomachin morning
if after 10 -15 minutes you experience rumbling, burping, win then your stomach acid is fine

If you experience no symptons in 5 - 15 minutes then you may have Hypochlorhydria which is officially diagnose dby the NHS by doing a gastrogram. It is treated by taking hydrochloric acid with food (the tablets are called betaine hydrochloride). Be careful of taking betaine hydrochloride without a gastrogram as you could do the other thing and cause too much acid.

Foods to avoid
---------------------------------
- no tomoatoes
- no strawberries no lemons no oranges no stasumas no bananas
- no bread
- no cheese
- no coffee tea or fizzydrinks
- no potatoes (but this may be weight rellated)

foods to eat
------------------------------
meso soup and rice cakes as a snack
oily fish(like mackeral) andvegetables
museli and soya milk for breakfast

 tablets
---------------------
- iomega 3
- zinc
- 5 http serotonine (for depressive energy problems)

exercise
---------------------------------
12,000 steps a day
gym couple fo times a week

skincare

I noticed something else on the program. The lady who was the subject was obviously highly stressed by her weight, psoriasis and red face skin. By the end of the program all her stress seemed to have gone which was probably very helpful for her psoriasis.

But aren't bananas full of potassium? I'd understood it to be a good source. My sis who suffers from an eating disorder, had potassium deficiency which led to fits, she was told she needed to eat them. What other food gives you potassium?
No bread, tomatoes, critus, tea & potatoes - that's my diet boogered then.
Like you say, we can't know what was to aid weight loss and what was to aid the skin probs.

Gluten apparently covers the raised parts of the stomach wall, which are responsible for absorbing nutrients, in a gluey mass which stops them working properly. Food therefore passes over them, we don't absorb the goodness and what passes down can remain in the gut in a state of putrefaction which increases toxicity and can lead to yeast type infections such as candida which is often linked to p. Dairy is also a no-no because they are a 'mucus' type thing which can clog up parts of the stomach/intestine, causing similar problems as gluten.
