Homemade oil brings relief to psoriasis sufferer (news)
« on: December 12, 2007, 10:52:43 AM »
============================================================================
A guy has reduced his psoriasis down by half using an Argan Oil based lotion he invented. Read on...

============================================================================

A man became an amateur scientist in his desperate search for a cure for the skin condition which was slowly destroying his life.

For years, David Duncan lived as a recluse because of the psoriasis which covered 85pc of his body. After trying countless skin specialists, prescriptions and quack cures, the 36-year-old is convinced he has now come up with his own effective treatment.

The inflammatory disease, which typically causes red scaly patches on the skin, developed when David was 19 years old.

"It nearly had me destroyed. My scalp, ears, hands were all covered in it as well as my body. I tried absolutely everything. My marriage broke up and I even thought about taking my own life," he revealed.

The condition left David with a constant itch, and he left a trail of dead skin everywhere he went. When they asked, he told children asked what was wrong with him, he told them he had been burnt in a fire.

Four years ago, a friend suggested that he try Argan oil, extracted from the nut of a tree found in Morocco and used widely in cosmetics. Within hours of application, the itch which had troubled him for 14 years had stopped.

David spent the next four years experimenting with different combinations of natural ingredients, using the oil as a base, with remarkable results.

"Within four weeks there was a massive improvement and after seven to nine weeks it was completely gone from my scalp.

"I know this works. It has given me back my freedom. I was a stone's throw from suicide," he said.

Before he began using his oil, 85pc of David's body was also covered with psoriasis. Now it is down to 40pc and there is no itch. David's wants to market the formula he has called Abbey Oils Solutions.

Suffering

One young woman who was also suffering with the condition was happy to try it out because she too had tried "just about everything".

The 24-year-old, who asked not to be identified, has also been astounded by the results.

Within two weeks, her scalp psoriasis had cleared. After seven weeks the condition which covered up to 60pc of her body had reduced to less than 5pc.

"It has changed my life immensely. It is brilliant. I was able to wear short sleeve tops and shorts when I went on holidays recently," she said.

I may be very cynical and suspicious(!), with good reason, having suffered with P for many years and been conned out of a lot of money during that time, but I simply don't believe this (SORRY).   If I discovered anything that helped, I would share it with you guys, financial gain wouldn't even cross my mind, we all suffer so much if I i found anything that worked I would tell the whole freaking forum.  There are constantly so called wonder creams but they always come in small expensive pots which I could afford at most to treat one arm per month with.  My body is about 30% covered at moment, tiny expensive pots of wonder cream just don't cut it, not even enough to test them.  If any genuine companies log on to this forum then please give us 500g tubs of affordable creams, I get through 500g per week at least and that just stops me cracking and bleeding (and crying!)
Yeah, okay, feeling sorry for myself cos it Xmas and can't wear a strappy slinky dress but we DESERVE MORE than this half life we're living.
ON A POSITIVE NOTE anyone see Daily Mail (small) article about vitamin cream from compay called DermiPsor - Israeli company I think - vitamine based ointment, no side effects, good results so far but 2 years till on market????

Merry xmas everyone x

I agree.....we have a lifetime condition here, so there is no need to try and hurry things.

My suggestion to anybody would be Barneys Formula......cheap as chips and with good results

then think about expesive miracle cxeams
I'd rather have a full bottle in front of me...than a full frontal Lobotomy!!!

Sadly argan oil is very very expensive even in its pure form. He also has other ingredients in there because he found thaton its own the argan oil couldnt pentrate deep enough.

This guy charges 45 euros for 2 x 100ml tubs, you would probably paythat for 2 tubs on normal argan oil, so I dont think hee s making much profit out of it at all.

What i liked about the article was no wonder cure claims, he isnt clear himself using it he has just reduced the severity f the condition.

I posted about the vitamin cream that going for fda approval too, its on the Labatory forum, Im guessing it may be a combintaion of vitamin d and b12.

In reality he could cut the BS and give out the ingredients therefor letting all use it at no extra postal costs, packaging etc.

Know exactly what you mean Veronique when you describe it as this half life we are living, thats how i express it to my partner. Had to switch of gmtv this morning, they were talking about little black dresses, it's not just the summer months is it?
When I'm out with my friends, and i tell them i have no confidence in myself , they say they can't understand that, and that they think I look lovely, but i have never had the courage to tell them that i have p, i would feel i'm less of a person in their eyes,so keep it from them. The only friends that know are those i went to school with, I couldn't keep it from them, down to the dreaded P.E lessons, that made everthing 100 times worse.
No one could possibly know what this life sentance is like, could they?
Needed to get this off my chest to the only people who understand.
Thank goodness for this forum

Veronique and Lolly

Your phrase 'living a half life' has brought a tear to my eye - what a truly, truly 'wonderful' way to describe how I feel about myself (I feel like 'half' a person) and my whole life (a life half lived since 8 years old).

Lolly, I'm sure your friends would understand - it really helps me being able to talk to friends about my P and it gives my long suffering partner a break - if I could only talk to him about it would probably have driven him mad by now even though he's brilliant about it.

Had a weekend away with some girlfriends recently and we shared a hotel room which was a bit traumatic even though they know about my P.  I just felt so self conscious having to change in the bathroom while they happily wandered about in their undies.  I'd love to see someone with P on the "How to look good naked" programme - how challenging would that be?

I too long for the day when I can buy a little black dress for xmas!!!

Saraknyal, sorry to hear you feel so bad - I've had P since I was 15 and am 43 now - I've had long periods where it's not been too bad but for the past few years it has been totally out of control and really gets me down.  This forum really helps though as I don't know anyone else with P which can make you feel a bit isolated and alone - so it's good to see how other sufferers feel and how they cope with it.

Well at least this doesnt proclaim to be a miracle cure (I'm still a bit angry over OSAS cream). I agree with veronique. If I found a cure for p i would tell everyone for free. All ingredients included. Also this would dismiss the possibility of it containing any steroids. Not that this product does but most of the so-called cures seem to. Also it seems to be clear that what works for one person doesnt necessarily work for another so whats the point in trying to market something that works for you. Having said all that i may give this a go in the future but it won't be until there has been a lot of evidence from other sources. Seems i've been burning money these last few years when it comes to p.
Just a point on the leading a half life thing that was mentioned above. I don't think i am leading a half life. Thats a negative way to look at it. I think i am stronger than a lot of people who don't have this. Also Lolly i use to be afraid to tell anyone about it. Then after a lot of nervousness i just told lots of people. And then lots of people told me their problems. Seems loads of people have something. Asthma, diabetes, allergies and numerous other things i cant think of right now. Even a lot of people i thought were the picture of perfection. It's probably cos we dont talk to people that we build up such a perfect view of all those around us. Having said all that, just keep on posting on the Forum and talking with evereyone on here. Everyones really great on here. And they are a great help. I'm not doing to bad with the p at the mo so I probably sound arrogant. But i have been covered at times. So best of luck to u and everyone.  ;)
Hope i havent ruined ur thread Stew, just found out about the OSAS so a bit annoyed. Always good to hear new info tho  ;).
Blessed are the cheesemakers

Hi .....
I make many of my own lotions/creams...it's easy to do, the only problem is it doesn't take a full jar or oil when making your own so you do have leftovers! I don't like to make big batches in case I don't like the newest concoction... ::) but the nice thing I have all the unused for further trials....
here is a web page from Dr. Mercola that is a commercial for his latest product..... ;) normally I wouldn't post a commercial site...but he does have some good info on skin care....

The funny thing is I had just made my own cream that was very similar to Mercolas ...after reading his I decided to remelt mine and add the shea butters ..the plain and the mango butter (which I luckily had from another cream I had made!)

I can't say it will clear psoriasis but it sure is a nice moisturizer for all over AND I know what is in it!!!

Sheady Cream

ingredients:

1 cup virgin coconut oil... melted (this is the base and will reharden when cool)

Jojoba oil 1/4 bottle (8 oz size)

carrot oil* 1 tablespoon (it really turns everything dark if too much is used)

Almond oil...1/4 bottle (8 oz)

Argan oil* 1/4 bottle (8 oz)

Rosemary oil...1/2 bottle (1 oz. size)

pure shea butter (no additives) (1 tablespoon)

mango butter 2 tablespoons (cause that's all I had)

GSE (grapefruit seed extract) as a preservative (or a complex vitamin E oil)

* this is where I got my oils however I just tried to check out the oils and couldn't get the page to load so you might want to contact them.....It's the only place I could find carrot oil...and pure argan oil!

mix with an electric hand mixer or whisk to mix...this will fill several small open mouth containers....I use Corning wear glass jars (with lids) ....1/2 cup size so that I can keep them in strategic spots around the house!

The shea butter, mango butter and coconut oil will harden again after this preparation! I usually refridgerate til it hardens!

hope this helps some of you and these ingredients are all adjustable to your liking!

I'm "GitOverIt" from the States and  NPF if you ever go over to the CAM forum!
