Homemade vitamin D3 cream/oil
« on: August 19, 2011, 10:02:05 AM »

Like most others new to this disease I have been on the internet nonstop trying to educate myself about it. To cut a long story short I watched this:

I watched all of it but the bit which is of interest to psoriasis sufferers is from approx 41 mins. Seeing the vast improvement of the chap on the video led me to experiment. The doctor on the film says he made his ointment with heated vasaline but I used coconut oil. All I did was break open a vitamin D3 capsule (mine is powder not oil) and pour it on to about 2 teaspoonfuls of coconut oil.

The chap in the video says you need to have about 15 micrograms for it to be potent. My capsule is 5000 International Units which converts to about 125 micrograms. My homemade oil has approx 15 micrograms per 2 teaspoon dose and I will let you know if it works!

Ok I have been using for several days and it works. At first my rash was a bright red and looked "alive" if that makes any sense. Now it is a dull pink and looks dead. You can still see it but it it getting faint.

Also no new crops are appearing. Before I was getting breakouts in different areas.

Still going Ok BUT I did get a new crop just below my belly button where I was not putting the cream. The new crop seemed very tame compared to what I have had. I am still very happy with the results.

What concentrations did you use?  If I get some 5000iu softgels, how much coconut oil do I need per softgel?

Would these be alright:

I expect so but they are oil mine are powder. If I was using oil I would prick the capsules with a pin or a needle and squeeze the contents on to a saucer containing the oil then mix them together. The coconut oil is solid (unless the weather is very hot) but turns to liquid very quickly with the warmth from your fingers. Oh and I would add 3 capsules to 2 teaspoons of oil. You get a better result if it is stronger.

If my vitamin D was in tablet form say from Holland & Barret I would put it in a garlic crusher.
