Have tried graphites and sulphur. No effect whatsoever.

Hi sebastian

I don't really think you can treat something like p successfully just by buying homeopathic remedies over the counter. You need to go to a good reputable homeopath who will take a long time getting to know the whole person before deciding the right mix of remedies specifically for you.

I've been taking my daughter to one every four weeks for the past 8 months and she spent over an hour with her on the first visit and about 45 mins on subsequent visits. She believed that the p was a symptom of other "problems" which she concentrated on. She warned that p was very difficult to treat homeopathically, unlike eczema or allergies, and our experience has confirmed that.

Although Emily now gets less stressed about things and has fewer tummy aches(which I'm sure is down to the homeopathic remedies) there was no improvement to her p. We've recently given in to temptation and reverted to steroids (Elocon) for a short time,  which has led to a dramatic improvement.

So what does this tell us?
Homeopathy's a waste of time and money?
Or is it effective in improving a person's well being which might or might not lead to an improvement to their p?
Has it attributed to Em responding well to Elocon?
Will it lenghten her period of remission?

I've no idea - but what I do know is that it's potentially a very expensive way of treating p. and there's probably only a small chance that it'll have any effect. :-/

Hi there,

I have to say that homeopathic treatment did nothing to help my p.  I saw a homeopath a couple of years ago and, like Splat's daughter, spent time with the homeopath discussing myself and answering questions.  I tried various homeopathic remedies but gave up in the end when nothing made even the slightest improvement to my p.  I'm not saying that this is to be ruled out but I agree that it's not as simple as buying an over-the-counter treatment.   :-/

Hi there,

I just thought that I'd reply to your post about homeopathy. I developed pustular psoriasis on both my feet about 4 years ago. It was incredibly severe and I had difficulty walking. The dermatologist gave me all the usual steroids and Neotigasan tablets etc. but nothing helped - in fact the steroids appeared to make it worse. The dermatologist also told me that I would never get rid of it.

In April last year, out of desperation, I went to a homeopath. The first two remedies he tried didn't work - one of them made my condition worse, so two months were wasted in trying to find the right remedy. The homeopath then gave me Graphites. My condition slowly improved and by last November I was completely clear. It wasn't an incredibly fast cure - six months - but it worked for me and I am just so releived to have got rid of it. There are no signs either of it returning and the skin on both my feet looks completely 'normal' again. I would certainly recommed at least trying homeopathy but bear in mind that it can take a while to find the right remedy and then a few months more to notice a real improvement. I wouldn't recommed taking the 'over the counter' remedies. If at all possible, it is far better to go to a qualified homeopath who will prescribe the correct dose for each particular condition.

Regards

Jane
