What to expect from Inclined Bed Therapy

First two weeks seem a little strange, you may get a few aches and pains, possibly slight stiffening in the neck as your spine receives gentle traction from the inclined posture.

Within two weeks you should begin to see some evidence of improvements inclu7ding improved circulation. Psoriasis may be difficult to reflect upon as people seldom complain about improvements, hence the need to take photographs prior to tilting the bed, so that we can compare later photographs of same area of skin. Even if you have a normal 35 or 110 camera, the images can be transferred to a disk from your film at any photographic print producers these days. Once on a disk the pictures are easy to upload to a site or image store like You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login
and link them back to the forum. If you need help to do this shout, or send them by email to me and I will link them as I did with Helen’s Photographs.

Ideal format for your online diary.

Diary Title:  My Inclined Bed Therapy Diary or Journal

Begin a new thread stating your current conditions, how you feel during the night, first thing in the morning, aches pains itching, how long you have had psoriasis medication you are on and / or have tried in the past, Results experienced previously.

Following IBT start date, include / add anything you notice about the inclined sleeping posture that is different to sleeping flat for you and possibly your partners input may help also as anyone sharing the incline will inevitably experience changes too. Include anything negative or positive to give a fair appraisal. And if you are able to share photographs of selected areas of psoriasis as a bench mark at the start of your diary great as this will add considerable validity to later posts.

Begin by giving a weekly report for the first 4 weeks, and then a report monthly will suffice. After 2-3 months include link to next lot of photographs. Include comments from yourself and family and friends when they notice changes. Repeat the same photographs of the same skin area after a further 2 months. Simple, but will undoubtedly record all changes during this important experiment.

Controls:
There will be quite a few people reading these posts that are not able or willing to give this therapy a try, but who could provide valuable control evidence by creating an online diary also, including the same input as people using IBT. Again photographs before during and after would contribute enormous validity to this study / experiment. Again include how long you have had psoriasis medication and what you have tried in the past together with any results.

Anyone who is already trying Inclined Bed Therapy please keep an online diary and share your own experiences using this as it will encourage others to try it and move us further towards our goal of fifty people or more testing it. High numbers of people reporting changes again adds validity to our study and helps to let other people with psoriasis know what to expect from Inclined Bed Therapy.

For those of you who want to understand the principles of circulation behind the inclined bed, I have posted some video's of experiments on metacafe. The experiments show density driven flow and gives an easy to understand presentation of this important discovery. I have spent hours setting up these video's and hope you will take a little time to view them.

Some time has passed since posting this subject. I hoped to see some people posting their online diary so that others can follow their progress.

This has not yet happened but I suspect a few people here are testing the theory and experiencing benefits from it. Hope you can share your experiences using IBT with others.

Hi Andrew, I am intrigued by the proposal... However, in order to persuade my husband to join me in this sloping marital bed of bliss and good circulation... would you have any opinion on whether it might improve his sinus problems?  If so, then he might get interested!

I look forward to your comments, Eileen

Yes indeed it will have a positve effect on the sinuses, stimulating draining of the sinus cavity has been experienced by many already, including myself. Also over time a resistance to infectious bugs, particularly those that affect the respiratory tract are avoided, while people around us appear to be suffering colds and influenza. I used to have antibiotics 2 x a year every winter and spring, guaranteed to develop bronchitis. Not any more, since 1994 I don't get bronchitis. Could be a coincidence except many more people have reported this also.

Having sinus problems usually indicates a snoring problem aslo. Snoring has also resolved for many users or at least a significant reduction in the noise from the person snoring.

Thanks for that Andrew,

I will let you know  how we get on, my husband's sinus has been a really  troublesome issue for  him recently, seems to come on in evening, and especially just when he goes to bed... affects his sleep terribly... snoring not so much of a problem for him or me... except on the nights when a few Guinness have been imbibed.....!

remember to take some photographs of the psorias affected area so that we can see the improvements that should occur over 6 weeks
keep a diary noting down anything you notice that has changed, look out for skin tone changes, temperature changes how you feel in the morning compared to sleeping flat etc.

Thank you for deciding to try this.

I'm going to start off tomorrow, bit late to be looking in the garage for bricks and stuff at 2am.  :)

The feet of the bed are nice and wide so it should be really easy to sort it out.

Hi Andrew,

Well we took down some shelves last night and with a piece of wood from the garden (!) we raised our ancient old futon up a few inches, and made a gradual incline of the bed... Felt slightly foolish climbing back in, and definitely feel a slight sense of a downward gradient but otherwise slept well.

I am posting today just to let you know that we have started, I will start the diary from this evening and then post again with more comprehensive notes... HOWEVER, both husband and I woke up this morning brighter and more clear headed than... well ever really.  We both started to realise it at about 8:30 that we were feeling absolutely fantastic... and that feeling has lasted all day... Psychosomatic  ?  Possibly, but don't knock it until you have tried it...
So, I will post again in a few days time, Regards Eileen

Hey Andrew,
i've been doing the IBT for well over a month now, maybe two. I was doing a lot of other things before i started on this such as taking vit D3, multivitamins, curcumin but about a month ago i got sick because i took too many things at once and didnt have a big meal. So i pretty much stopped taking everything except actimel (yogurt) and kept doing the IBT. Also a few months ago my life was mch more stressful due to job and house but i moved out and my job situation has changed too. In the last month my p seems to have improved a lot. There was a spot on my body which just seems to be disappearing, it wasnt big but its clearly going and my scalp p which was my main concern anyway seems to have died down a lot too. I didnt want to post or take pictures cos i was trying so many different things but when i stopped everything except the IBT (which i nearly forgot about because u get so used to ur bed being that way) my p does seem to have improved very much. My life is a lot less stressful now so i couldnt put it down to only one factor but i definitely give ur IBT the thumbs up in case anyone else was thinking of doing it.  ;)

Hi Antonto

Thank you for sending in a report of your experiences using IBT.
Good also that you had stopped using other treatments a month before this report.

Would be good also if you can have some photographs taken now before more improvements so we can see changes, sorry to keep nagging about photographs, but my work has been kept in the dark for too long because I had been focusing on neurological conditions, which do not produce convincing evidence to the naked eye. This is why I believe Psoriasis will provide us with some astonishing results.

Helen has informed me that her skin is still improving and that more photographs will be forthcoming in a few weeks time.

It does not matter much if people on this study are doing other things to assist psoriasis, as the majority of people with this condition will be trying one thing or another. What does matter though is that we get at least fifty people test-driving this therapy and posting results in the forum. Then we shall be able to determine which treatment is helping and which is not.

We can also run a revert back to flat bed rest after 6 months of IBT to see if psoriasis flares again. I have no doubt what the results will be but it could prove a useful tool for sceptics.
