Anybody else out there tried Indian Head Massage for managing their stress, either p-related or otherwise? I understand for those of you with really bad scalp p it might be awkward but I have and its FANTASTIC... ;D

yes ... and i like it a lot IF my hair is wet or full of oil. I HATE it done on dry hair or if they only use a bit of oil. I just get overconscious of my scalp, of the noise my hair makes as it rubs about .....!

I really smiled when I read this post as I went for an Indian Head Massage to my local salon ( 3rd session) in December. It was orgasmic as usual, but halfway into the session I began to have horrible pains in my chest, then I went all cold and clammy and then faint !!! I thought that I was having a heart attack and stopped the session. The massager freiked out and panicked. I asked if anyone had any aspirin and the receptionist rushed off to the nearest shop and got some. Meanwhile, amid hysteria from the staff, I managed to get myself into horizontal position with legs raised and they brought in electric fans to cool me down . Eventually I was feeling a lot better but wobbly and I got myself home and rang the docs. I was fine and can only conclude that the stimulation put my system into overdrive. I loved the head massage but daren't go back as I would be too embarassed. In conclusion, Indian Head Massage is one hell of an experience, but if you are a bit overloaded on the old stress it can trigger a bit of an extreme reaction. ( I would love to go back for another ) :P :P :P

Cripes Hazel, bet they were checking their insurance policies!!!!  I suggest you try a reflexology session to try and regain your body balance - less stimulating

I suggest if you do go again you explain your previous reaction to the therapist - she may well adjust her technique.

It sounds like you suffered a healing crisis - you should have been warned really - the thing is to rest and to drink lots ( at least 2 litres in one day) of water to help rid the body of all the toxins that were freed during the treatment

good luck for next time
it really is a fab treatment

I tried one and didn't get on too well  :-/

Gave me a splitting headache and set my scalp off as well - took me a few days to get back to "normal"!

Guess we're all different  :-/
