Its funny you mentioned that Elaine.  Thinking about it, willow water upsets my mums tum as well, and she has an intollerence for Asprin! I'm wondering if there is some sort of link here?

As I explained in one of my posts in this thread Mike - The amount of salicylic acid that is converted in the body from the Salicin content of the Lakeland water, is negligible & even if one was to drink 100 litres (200 pints) a day, you would not ingest anywhere near the amount of salicylic acid that is contained in one low dose aspirin tablet.

Most people per day, would ingest far more salicylic acid from food than what is contained in 100 litres of that water.

As such, the amount of Salicin in the water (which is converted to salicylic acid in the body) would not upset anyone's tummy.

I don't think its actually the salicin alone in the willow that causes it to have the effects it has.

Eating fresh fruit and veg is always a much better way of taking in vitamins than taking vitamin supliments!  I think this might be a similar situation!

The company itself likes to push the Salicin line as being the 'panacea' contained in the water - However, going on the minuscule amount contained, it definately isn't the Salicin.

It must be some 'magic' hidden ingredient because the water's analysis doesn't list anything in a quantity that would be of any special benefit.

Either that, or it is a con job - As most of these type of things tend to be.

If it works for you Mikey stick with it!

There's a lot of nuts talked about P causes cures etc. Some folk reckon specific diets help their P others sitting in a bowl of porridge, some even reckon drinkiing your own Pee!!! I'm sure there's someone out there who says wearing a blue and a red sock has beneficial results for their P!!!

Well lets face it if there WAS a cure for this then non of us would be here now would we? It's not scientific else there would be scientific cures and there aint .. so if this water does you good then so be it!! That might not have any grounds in a medical or scientific approach but who gives a **** huh anything that helps is good  :)

Seeing as everyone is still talking about the wonders of the water, I decided I will give it a bash - writing a little post-it note as we speak to remember to buy some.
I once had a conversation with a nurse at the Derm who said that us sufferers should aim for a high intake of water daily and went on to explain the reasons why, so drinking a high proportion of water in itself is going to be beneficial, although I never have noticed a difference........so all I can now say is let's try Lakeland willow
When life gets you down, have a rest, then come back fighting.
