This is a reply I got from catherine in response to my question regarding the purity of the marine oil used in E yeQ,I asked her if it was ok to post here she replied in the affirmative
Hi Chris
Please be assured that our source of fish oil is high in both purity and
quality. We certainly appreciate concerns about the safety of consuming
fish oil, particularly in light of reports of mercury contamination in
some fish.
Our oil is sourced from the cleanest oceans, the South Atlantic and
Pacific. After we have obtained the oil, it is then put through a
'turbo-deodorisation' process unique to Equazen, under which the oil is
put in a complete vacuum and washed with steam. The main aim is to clean
out volatiles that give a fishy smell or taste, but it also acts as an
insurance policy to guarantee that from batch to batch, we clear out all
impurities.
Samples from each batch are sent to the Weirtz institute in Hamburg,
which is Europe's leading body for analysing oils. Every batch has been
found to be free of mercury, other heavy metals such as a cadmium and
lead, all 17 elements of PCBs and 7 possible dioxins as decreed by the
WHO and EC. We are in fact already in full compliance with more
stringent EC regulations coming out in late 2005 giving tighter controls
over pollutant levels in fish oils.
So please feel confident in taking eye q. But let me know if you have
any further questions.
I'm glad you had a good holiday!
Kind regards
Catherine
