Milk thistle
« on: March 11, 2004, 10:02:06 PM »
I know we've had a thread on this before (as well as it being mentioned on others) but can't find it.

So thought I'd start another to get peeps' views.

I've only just started taking milk thistle so can't say yet.

Anyone else?

Nicky

Yep.

As mentioned in the "What works for you" thread, l do milk thistle.

I find it great, especially in conjunction with high-dose vitamin c and
also green tea.   Toxins don't stand a chance.

Milk thistle is also moves along a lingering hangover quite nicely   ;D

l use the "Solgar" brand. They seem to get the most
thumbs up.  And it does take a couple of days to start working.

Good luck - let us know how it's going...

:) :)

Hi.  If you look at the laboratory forum theres a thread "My P is disappearing and not coming back".  I read this and am now taking the milk thistle, Omega 3,6,9 capsules, myrrh essential oil (mixed into base cream) and Yakult.  I only started a couple of days ago and think it is just starting to work - some patches on my hand were bright red and now they seem to be fading to pink.  Best of luck

:D Yes, I'm currently 'doing' Solgar caps - they are highest strength and lowest price. (£19.99 for 100, still not cheap though! 450mg per tab) also using the sausage tree creams and taking evening primrose oil capsules.

Hi everyone. I've had good results with milk thistle, but in conjunction with other methods too.

Important to remember not to take it for more than 3 months, can't remember why, but it's important.

Do people find it better in capsule form or liquid?

I took it in liquid - a few drops in water - for a while and it tastes foul.

The health food shop said in liquid form it gets into your system quicker

Cohens chemist have milk thistle on offer £2.49 for 30 tabs. Only just started taking it yesterday myself, with high hopes! Ruthie, did you remember why it can't be taken for long periods?

I can't quite remember - I think a friend told me. Milk thistle helps to clear your liver of toxins - maybe it's not a good idea to ply your liver with supplements for months on end.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Ruthie ;)
