My Cure
« on: July 28, 2011, 03:03:21 AM »
This is how I "cured" my psoriasis. It is actually a treatment because if I stop then it will slowly come back. This treatment uses cheap easy items you can get at your grocery store. It works 100% for me, I've been free of psoriasis for over a year and half now. I currently do just these simple things. I eat whatever I want. I don't take any supplements. You have to keep doing these things and you can't just do them sporadically or just when you have break out.

1) Green Drink

This is what I call it. It's basically blended spinach and water. Basically, you are extracting the chlorophyll from the cellulose walls of the spinach so your body can process it (most usually goes right through you). Takes about 5 minutes to make. Fill a blender generously with spinach leaves and then fill it up the top with water. Blend. Strain. You should have dark green water left over. Drink a glass of this daily at first, then eventually you can tamper off to three times a week. You can add things to make it taste better, but I keep it simple/stupid or I'll find excuses not to make it. Literally, takes 5 minutes to prepare enough for three days. Do not keep longer than three days, make it fresh again. This is my cure. If I stop for a couple weeks, it comes back. Somehow it keeps my digestive track in good order.

Drawbacks/Complaints:
Taste: yeah it tastes gross at first, but you will get used to it. Put things in it to taste better. But just do it.
Time: Seriously, it takes 5 minutes.
Laxative: It will loosen you up at first, but after your body adjusts, you will be fine.
Change in color: Your movements may turn darker in color, greenish. It's a small price to pay and doesn't matter.

I kept up with it. Immediately starting seeing improvement after a couple weeks. Progress was slow but steady. Completely recovered now, only drink it 2-3 times a week. Existing sores will take a while to get rid off, but you should see a reduction of new ones very quickly. Give it a shot, it's cheap, healthy, and safe.

2) Moisturize

Body:

After every single shower, I rub Johnson's and Johnson's Baby Oil with aloe/vitamin e over my entire body. It takes about 1-2 minutes if you rub onto your skin while still wet. Then pat dry. You have to moisturize with something to prevent dryness. It's cheap and effective, don't be lazy. My GF thought it was weird, but she got over it. I'd rather rub a little baby oil on my skin then have horrible sores on my entire body.

You can take a bath in warm water and pour baby oil on top, if you want a really good healing after a bad breakout. Just rub/soak in it for an hour (no soap), then pat dry.

Scalp:

Even with Green drink, my scalp was still bothering me. I finally found a way to fix it. Use Conditioner and use it properly. I switched to Bed Head Moisture Maniac Conditioner and Shampoo. When I start the shower I immediately put on the conditioner (mixed with some shampoo) onto my head and scrub. I then leave it in there the entire shower and rinse at the end.

3) Eliminate Irritants

Bed:
    Wash your sheets regularly. Why? Dust mites. They irritate my skin. I also spray my bed with a dust mite killer called disodium octaborate tetrahydrate. It's a salt and safe unlike other chemicals, google it.

Shower:
   I don't use soaps that can dry my skin, no more bar soaps. I use Biore's blemish fighting ice cleanser in a green bottle exclusively.

Head:
   I stopped using hair spray. It was really drying out my scalp. I switched to Fiber made by American Crew in those little round bottles. That in combination with Green drink and conditioner solved my scalp issues permanently.

Washer:
   I wash my clothes using Seven Generations Blue Eucalyptus and Lavender.

Hope this helps!

Delighted to hear you've found your own maintenance programme that works miamidude.  I know others here disregard posts that claim to 'cure' as there is no known cure for P - its a lifelong condition which waxes and wanes for almost all people.

I like your suggestions, there are some here on the alternative forum that find  drinking of freshly prepared  green juices daily whilst  using  sls free free products provide relief for them too, tho perhaps there is still a little P.

Thank you for your advices.

Wishing you well

miamidude, welcome.  Thanks for the tips; it is always to hear about what people have done to successfully tame their psoriasis!  There are other threads out there regarding green smoothies and fresh juicing.  Others, like myself, have been helped by drinking raw fruits and veggies.  Oh and as for topical stuff, I use glycerin.  You can search for threads on glycerin in this forum.  Glycerin has helped my stubborn lesions to heal, albeit very slowly.

Hello, miamidude. I want to try your way even if it seems too simple to be true :)

Question: Is the raw frozen spinach ok ?

Also for information i've read that spinach contains oxalic acid, when it's cooked it turns into crystals that could damage kidneys and limit the absorption of iron but cooking also breaks down cell walls and allow us to absorb more nutrients

Thank you

@BabyBlue
 Yeah you're right, not a cure! But a really good treatment. You have to stick to it, even after your skin is clear (even months in my case) or it will creep on back.

@stewart_h
 I fill my to the top. Usually I stick the whole bag in there. Remember to keep up with even if your skin clears. I drink a regular glass, maybe 8-12oz. Sometimes I drink two glasses.

@littlelost83
 For the dustmites. I bought it online and it came in a powder. I mixed the powder with water into a spray bottle as directed by the packaging. Then I spray the mattress only. I let it dry a few hours before putting on clean sheets. I do it about every 2-3 months.

@Fraer9

That is a very great question. Do not use frozen spinach. Do not used cooked spinach. The spinach must be fresh (like you would put on a salad). You can actually use any fresh leafy green, but spinach has the highest concentration of chlorophyll.

Hay Guys,

Hope I'm not hijacking this post but i agree with miamidude.

I have had psoriasis for about 14yrs. been through everything as most of you know. the last 4 years I have done loads of diet stuff but the more simple the better.

I don't notice my psoriasis much anymore. I suppose i don't give a sh1t about it at all. I used to give it a lot of time but not anymore. Feck it sure its a waste of time that you could put into something else.

I found it is 100% digestion. eat green and drink green. eat veg and fruit and avoid as much dairy and gluten as you can. eat meat and fish and take a multi vit. also get a super green to add to a blended drink.

I tested my diet and noticed that I ate loads of chocolate too. I believe that foods like choc, gluten etc inhibit digestion and dehydrate the body making digestion more difficult - along with my usual 5 to 6 teas or coffee a day. - I love a coffee every firkin day...mmmmmmm

So get hydrated, more green and easily digestable food. also get out and about... exercise is brill.

Don't be so hard on yourself and don't go too extreme. It needs to work for you with any change. its not being lazy, just smart, as the little changes at a time will make the biggest and easiest change later. like most things in life, invest what you can now and reap the benefit later. Jesus i sound like a sales man!

have a good one.

It's possible that the reason the spinach drink is helping is because it contains a compound called oxalic acid.   Might be worth reading up on this.   One action of oxalic acid is that it binds to folic acid receptors in the body.   Folic acid is a B vitamin that is needed for cells to multiply, so if you interfere with that process you will slow down the manufacture of new cells.  This is the same mechanism as for methotrexate.
