My experience with psoriasis
« on: January 16, 2012, 01:30:11 PM »
I only joined this forum recently and it’s a massive support to know there are others out there with the same condition.
I just thought I’d share my experiences with Psoriasis and things I have tried to get rid of
this depressing disorder.
The amount of money we spend on trying to find something that works for us is scary,
especially from scam potions and nonsense remedies I have certainly fallen for in the earlier years. You get wise to these over time but sometimes the frantic hope that something will cure me leads to the ‘what the hell, I’ll give it a go’ here’s another €50.
I have tried:-
Vitamin B
Vitamin D3
Vitamin A
Zinc (and heavy doses)
ProZ * did nothing
Cider Vinegar * Internally and externally ,did not notice any improvement
Blue cap spray * did notice small improvement, but it’s a steroid !
CleanseSmart
Simba (American potato tuber) *did nothing
m-folia * did nothing
Dong Quai * did nothing
Psorzema Crème (not bad for moisturizing and does reduce flakes)
Equilac (horse milk capsules) *did nothing
Quit smoking * did not see any improvements in psoriasis but do feel much healthier
Quit Alcohol * no improvement
Cut out red meat * No sure yet, i did have some pork after 2 weeks without red meat and noticed a flare up.
Cut out wheat * did not see any improvement after 2 weeks but will continue and see.
Aalgo seaweed bath * reduced the flaking for a day or so but no major improvement
Bleach in the bath * a cup of bleach in the bath did help a little but no clear up.
African black soap *just started using it so not sure.
Sea Buckthorn oil * again just started testing it
UVB * bought a hand held lamp recently and I have seen a large improvement over 3 weeks
using it, I stopped for 4 days and the plaques started coming back.
Steroid cream * works well and will clear me but had to stop using it as my skin was becoming thin and painful on my elbows when I lean on them.
Non bio washing powder* most of my Psoriasis is mainly on the major contact points with
my clothes so switched to Tesco non bio skin friendly. Over the past 4 weeks my psoriasis
is not so much improving but it is not as angry.
UVB + steroid cream * tried the UVB lamp again but this time I used steroid cream and UVB
on alternate days, best results yet. Cleared me buy 90% although again I stopped to see
how long I would stay clear. Well after 6 days I started to see areas coming back.
I guess for me it’s about getting it clear with the UVB + steroids and then trying to maintain it
with UVB only, hopefully only once a week as it is very time consuming.
Barney diet * have not tried it yet but I did read of someone on here using it with good results.
Natpro * just testing it, it’s progesterone cream.
Waiting on Repcillin to arrive, it is said it’s an alternative to steroids.
Waiting on Kefir to arrive, hoping the probiotics in it will do something.
Waiting on Slippery elm and saffron to make a tea that aids the supply of lymph and emunctory circulation through the digestive system ( so they say anyway)
One other thing I was going to try is Psoiracease, not sure if their claims are true as I can’t
find any reviews online except theirs. Their website is also down so maybe thats a clue?
I guess that’s about it at the moment, not sure if this helps or make any sense to anyone
but I just wanted to share some of the things I’ve tried. I really do think though that psoriasis
is caused by different things in different people and what works for some people will not for others,I guess that’s why it is so difficult to treat effectively.
Anyway, good luck all and I will post back if I find any miracle cure,( chance would be a fine thing) ☺

you gotta start somewhere right - for me this time last year i sat in a hospital and the derm gave me the 3 options mtx stellara etc - i knew by from juicing and diet it could clear me and asked the hospital to give me one last crack - look at my photos from last year to prove & ill add some more now to show you diet was the 1st thing to control - i have had no more iriatble bowel since and ok had to buy a uvb stick for my elbow as a few spots come on my elbow and would not clear but it cleared within a week.

Hi Steelem, thanks for the reply. Your photos look great well done. At the moment my weekly diet is made up of mainly fish and chicken. No creamy sauces just
fresh veg and the juices from the meat to season with a little salt and pepper. I have cut out red meat/cereal/potato chips/pasta, wheat based basically.Trying to fill the in between meals with raw veg / carrots/celery/nuts raisins etc. Basically trying to keep everything i eat as clean and simple as possible. The only thing i have not tried is the dairy free approach, god knows why i did not try that first but starting today i will also be cutting out dairy completely.
What diet are you on and what should i be avoiding. To be honest i am finding it tough not to pig out on pizza or a take away now and then but if i can get this cleared i would give up anything.
 Cheers

Found an interesting post on leaky gut just now, IBS and the many posts on here re dairy free / gluten free really are starting to make sense.
