Naturopathy
« on: July 28, 2004, 09:50:44 PM »
Has anyone had any success with their P by following a "naturopathic" approach to diet and general health. The main focus is to not to overload the digestive system and so apart from avoiding the usual culprits like fried food, cigarettes and alcohol it also advocates no wheat and dairy products. To this extent it mimics the Cayce/Pagano regime.

In addition though it recommends taking supplements - mainly Flax seed oil, Vitamin B, Magnesium and lots of water. It also encourages regular Enemas with a view to healing the overworked body which has been overloaded with toxins by both genetic and real time damage.

Interestingly proponents of naturopathy believe that this appraoch will improve all deep rooted physical problems as it encourages the body to get healthy and then combat whatever our ailment may be.

Obviously it came to my attention as i was trying to find something  new to help with my P.

The thrust of it made a lot of sense and there was also a more spiritual element to it for those who appreciated that angle. It seemed a genuinely holistic approach that took lots of factors in to account.

So far i have been unable to follow it closely enough but would be grateful for any additional motivation people who have had success with it may be able to pass on.

Hi David_8

No but the theory would be that the sufferers genetic predisposition was enough at that time to trigger the P.

Good job they don't burn us a t the stake though any more!

psoriasis is very epidemic in india where they eat much more healthily PAGANO putsthat down to the nightshade family. U put it down to thafact that bacteria are very common in india just like here. Cue stewart record, psoriasis is a bacterial problem.

Hi David  and Stewart.

Yes i am saying that it seems a plausible theory to me you can get P by genetically being predisposed to it even regardless of diet. In this case the additives and supplementary treatments as advocated in Naturopathy would heal the damage to our systems.

And no Stewart i am not saying that people with P in India have it due to the bacterial theory that you seem to favour.

I do not have all the answers and your theories are certainly  plausible ( I have read a few of your posts with interest) but so is the logic behind naturopathy unless you care to convince  me oyherwise.

Theories are fine but i am waiting for something that works in practice and i have an open mind.

I have a lot of faith in naturopathy actually, i think it is the best holistic approach. WHat you mention is only one naturpaths view, i knowq others that would put you on heavy diet of porridge oats and salads and green veg with no red meat, others who put you on evening primrose oil etc. Thats where the confusion starts.

A healthyier diet with good supplemtntation will have an effect though

A healthier diet, if you have a baddish one will help a lot of things healthwise, but what if you don't smoke and have never done so, don't drink much alcohol, don't eat fried foods, or red meat, have never touched coffee, drink very little tea, drink lots of water, little dairy....?  I think a lot of these so called diets are just a money making racket, and surely trying out all these diets and supplements will do more harm than good in the long run as it's just messing your systems up more?

Love the discussions though, very interesting.
