New to psoriasis & breastfeeding
« on: April 06, 2004, 09:57:48 PM »
Just started getting psoriasis at 45 and it is really getting me down.
I'm breastfeeding my baby still and most creams etc cannot be used whilst breastfeeding.

Can anybody help?

Thanks

Hi
How bad is your p. Do you have a derm? As far as I know UVB would be a safe option.

It started just on knees - now elbows feet hands back & and I think scalp?  Just find more each day!

Seeing a specialist in 2 weeks.

Probably best source to help you. In the mean time just try to moisterise as much as possible. For the scalp there is stuff like polytar and alphosyl for scalp (buy over counter) not sure where they stand on use during breastfeedin but you could always ask pharmacy.

Hope appointment goes ok and let us know how things go.

Did your P start after the baby was born?

I can imagine!

I didn't think I was vein - but now worry about covering up.

I know that feeling but even trying to cover it up doesn't always work! I have had a pretty bad attack recently and unfortunately my face can get pretty badly affected. Have just started on oral medication which is my last hope as everything else seems to fail (all worked for a while but after 12 years body seems to have become immune to the traditional methods).

Face and hands seem to affect me worse as I cant hide that and make up just seems to make it worse!

I've been covered up for 15 years,  I'm not vein but just can't bear to see the looks on peoples faces.
