hey amanda jane

(we dont get sick of the q's  ;))

there are loads of good ideas on this board for natural remedies

personally i love aloe vera! lol
i get the gel from holland and barrets and its good stuff! really soothes the itching too
i have p severly on my scalp too, unfortunately nothing has worked for me (coal tar did t first tho) but some people find olive oil works (good for inside the ear canal too) if u leave it in overnight, can be messy tho
i had some luck with dream cream from lush, actully, all their products are good, all natural i think, none of their products irritates my skin and some soothe the itching too, but they are pretty expensive (well on a student budget they are!)

good luck for your daughter

really hope things improve for her  :-*

hi, ya &wecome

i take it by doc, i hope  you mean derm ? have you asked for a second referal ? even to a homoepathic hospital

have a look at the alternative board
what works for 1 does not mean it work for all, its a case of try and see from baking soda & oats in a bath to fullers earth cream / honey ointment ?
have a search of the alt board
always check any home  rememedys with gp first  ie contradictions with other meds

As well as looking for natural remedies, you may want to go back to the doc/derm and try something else, as david says, what works for one person, doesn't work for another. If you haven't seen a derm, ask to be referred to one, just to make sure that she's been properly diagnosed.
It must be difficult for your daughter having p at such a young age, I was 4, but tell her not to worry, and maybe she can come on here and read some of the posts. There's also a forum for our younger members, who maybe able to help out.

hiya,

here are some really good natural alternatives which have helped me ......

SCALP TREATMENT
Olive oil mixed with sea salt & mushed over the scalp works great. You can leave on for a bit & then shampoo out as normal - it works much better than coal tar products.

EXTERNAL TREATEMENTS

Hemp Oil - a wonderful anti inflammatory
Olive Oil - great for scalp P
Peppermint Oil - WONDERFUL for itching! (mixed with olive oil to massage onto itchy patches & also into the scalp)
Tea Tree & Lavender Essential Oils - anti-septic & anti-itch, drop in the bath to relieve soreness & inflammation. Lavender also is a good relaxing oil if she is a bit stressed out.
Shea Butter - great as a natural emoillient on the skin

INTERNAL TREATMENTS

Hemp Oil - to provide plenty of omega oils
Nuts & seeds - including Brazils & pumpkin seeds which are rich in zinc (some P sufferers find that they have a zinc deficiency).
Lots of fruit & veg & also try cutting down/out sugary junk foods which can overburden the system & come out as problem skin.

Hope that is of some help.

Take care
