SJ,me old muckette, i would argue thought that people have rarely ever given up nightshades alone, its ually as part of pagano or simular diets, or with dairt etc etc. And thast the problem pagano is so restrictive that inreality ONE of the 20 things u give up could make the difference. I would always suggest to people to try and cut out all dairy as the first line of trialing diets. Dairy is a very common allergy that goes undiagbosed. Alchohol suprisingly is another. I don t think high nightshades are good for anyone (they do contain toxins) but i tend to agree with you and heidi hi that i dont think they are as implicit as some dieticians have said.
Knocked dairy on the head about 15 years ago....I love my soya and rice milk and cheese is something I eat very seldomly (although I do eat the odd bit of sheeps or goats sometimes, but not cow juice cheese!). I am not a great drinker either, the odd glass of white wine is about it for me.
I didn't find the Pagano that hard to follow at all. I am a veggie, I eat plenty of organic fruit and veg on a daily basis, I don't have coke, squash, coffee, black tea, sweets etc etc anyway. I pretty much just had to give up the nightshades and add the saffron/slippery elm etc - no great shakes really.
But Pagano did nothing for my P at all. I even did the fasting and the colonics.
It obviously isn't for everyone.....
