Publication on food sensitivities/allergies from Harvard
« on: October 06, 2011, 06:51:46 PM »
Here is a new publication from Harvard about food sensitivities and allergies which may interest some of you as they could relate to psoriasis:

Food Allergy, Intolerance,
and Sensitivity
Are the foods you eat making you ill?

It seems like everyone has some sort of food allergy or sensitivity these days. Celiac disease and sensitivity to gluten is a growing problem. Allergies to peanuts, shellfish, and dairy products can produce serious — even life-threatening — reactions. And more and more we hear about illness caused by contaminated fruits, vegetables, and meat.

An estimated 12 million people in the United States are allergic to some food, and as many as 60 million have a food intolerance or sensitivity. Alarmingly, at least 48 million fall ill from food-borne pathogens every year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

With statistics like these, it's important to understand your risk for food-related illness, be able to recognize the warning signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction, and know how to keep the foods you eat safe and nourishing. Harvard Medical School has put everything you need to know into our new Special Health Report, Food Allergy, Intolerance, and Sensitivity: Are the foods you eat making you ill? The report addresses the many ways that food can cause or trigger illness, offers strategies to help you avoid problems, and dispels many of the myths and misconceptions about food-associated illness.

Inside this 44-page report, you'll discover:
How to deal with lactose intolerance
Understanding gluten sensitivity and celiac disease
Medical conditions that can be aggravated by food, including migraines, hot flashes, and gout
Living with food allergies
The dangers of contaminated foods

Special Bonus Section: Ten steps to safer eating

The information found in Food Allergy, Intolerance, and Sensitivity can help you identify the foods that are most likely to make you ill, live better with a food allergy or sensitivity, and restore one of life's great pleasures — savoring the foods you enjoy with confidence. If you or someone you love suffers from food-related health issues, make sure you're armed with the information and expert advice you need to live and eat well. Order your copy of Food Allergy, Intolerance, and Sensitivity today.

Salud and bon appétit,
