Saran Wrap it!!
« on: May 17, 2004, 02:56:48 PM »
Well I know this is going to sound really silly but I was desperate to try anything to get rid of my P. I have never had it before this year and I now have it head to toe  >:(. Well my sister and I have tried every lotion on earth but nothing helped and it has only gotten worse. So we decided to wrap my legs and arms in plastic wrap. My body's own natural sweat and oils came out with a vengence!! I often slept with them on (I know, holy claustrophobia!!). But what I noticed was that my bumps got flat and my shedding was much much less. I didn't do my whole legs or arms, just the bottom parts. Cause sleeping with just those covered is enough!! Has anyone else had any luck with this method? I am going to continue to do it for a bit. I was actually able to shave my legs for the first time in 2 months!! weee!! ;D

I often do this with my hands. I wear thin polythene glaves from boots .Loads of cream. leave on for a few hours. Helps but does not get rid of.

Hiya this is my first post on the forum. A friend sent me the link and it seems very helpful!  :D

I apply a think layer of Aveeno cream and massage it in to the skin and then wrap the area up with cling film, I then leave it on overnight. If you do this for a few nights at a time, it leaves the skin nice and smooth, doesnt cure but helps when you want to wear short sleeved tops and shorts etc

oh wow!  Have never heard of this before but am going to give it a try before the 'big event' on Saturday.  Wish I'd known earlier - it sounds wierd enough to work in the short term.  (And I might even lose half an inch off my calves into the bargain!)

Yep, it worked for me. I used Aqueous cream in large quantities and would then wrap my elbows and knees up in cling film before going to sleep. Be careful not to wrap too tight and also which cream/lotion you use. There are some creams that you must not do this with because it could cause thinning of the skin.

Search for occlusion on this site to see some old threads about it.

Good luck ;)

Hi Thistle,

Its not silly at all. If it keeps things from getting messy etc then its all good. :)

I had the messy problem when having to apply cream practically all over my legs and on patches on my arms. This obviously caused anything that I came into contact with eg, bedsheets to get all sticky and messy.

Well because the patches are so big on my legs etc I found that after applying the cream to the affected areas the best way to keep things from getting messy was a method similar to the one you have mentioned.

I found the best way to cover my badly affected legs was to put a hole in the middle of a black bin liner and then wrap it around each leg and put a little bit of sellotape on it to keep it secure and then it was ideal cause I could just rip it off in the morning and then get showered and ready for work. Its not ideal for all over the body as it could get quite sweaty, but for the legs or feet, I think its ideal.

What do you think, its a similar method to you using clingflim?

Um... you know this is dangerous, right? You breathe through your skin. Covering it up in airtight plastic can kill you. Go easy folks!
