Seriously considering Dead Sea trip........
« on: August 02, 2005, 11:24:53 AM »
I am considering a trip tp the dead sea to help woth my P and PA.

I have had a look on the internet to try and get some prices etc but not having much luck.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I know that it is recommended that you spend 3 weeks there, but this isnt viable for me, would a week do me any good?

Many people here use this travel agency and I used it last month. David is a P sufferer himself and people from all over the world, not just UK, use his agency.

I only had two weeks. It has helped enormously but the P is beginning to come back just where I lost it within a month. 3 or more weeks would have been ideal for me with 30-35% coverage. I do not believe 1 week would be that helpful, if I am brutally honest  :-/ Also, the sun is quite hot out there in july and august and you wouldn't be able to spend as much time as possible out in it as those who go in april and may or end of september/october do. I managed 6 hours a day for 12 days in early july, but I have the skin of a rhino and can handle 50 degree heat!

However, you have to do what you can to cope...and if you feel one week is better than none at all, go for it! But don't expect anywhere neat the results you could get if staying 2/3/4 weeks. I think the fact that my P has returned in the places that were smooth and white after 2 weeks (and I worked very hard to get that!) just shows that you do need those extra weeks to really clear yourself AND get a remission worth spending 1000s on.

Thanks SJ, my P hasnt been bad to be honest - until this morning (see my other post!) i would be looking to go in about 6 weeks i think, my PA is really bad at teh moment and i am going to get away so thought if any benefit could be had in a week - possibly 10 days then i would go. I cant have anymore time off work as i only have 10 days left for the rest of teh year. thanks for the website....i will have a look now!

I did 2 weeks end may beginning of june.  I had 25% coverage and came back clear, and still am, don't know how long it will last though.  1 week would not have been enough.

I went with David at DeadSeaTravel.

If you can do ten days...and go in september...I am sure it will help. particularly the PA.

Make sure you use the sulphur pools and the mud...as many people I met out there with just PA were doing just that and swore it helped enormously  :)

All the Brits tend to stay at the Meridien (so I did too!) and I am sure there will be others out there at the end of septmeber...I think our matellie is going then!

Very best...I am sure David will take good care of you on the phone when you enquire!

Lucky you, Trish  :)

I worked incredibly hard for the 12 days I was out there and other P people who have years and years of experience couldn't believe how well I did....but after 3 weeks some of the plaques that were completely smooth and clear have bubbled back up again....I think one more week would have tanned over the pale patches and perhaps obliterated them out of existence!

But I am off to Barcelona in 10 days and will get a few hours each day in the sun (work will take the majority of the day up as it is a work trip) and then I have 10 days at the end of August...so thought I might do a nice hot Greek island and finish it off again.

I think some years people get a great remission off their 2/3/4 weeks and the following year it may only last a few weeks/months.

Hope you continue to be clear for as long as poss!

Well, for the three weeks before it began to raise its ugly head I was wearing short skirts!!! ME! But as my legs looked pretty good (you couldn't really see much unless you really looked hard and most people were more interested in my brown tan than my pale patches) I was quite happy to do it...plus I was hoping to get some decent sun here to finish them off. Hmmm....been very poop weather since I got back pretty much.

Just one of those things....next year I will go for 3 weeks!

Just hoping I can keep it under control til middle and end of august!

;)
