Slippery Elm and Saffron tea
« on: January 28, 2012, 02:33:23 AM »
Went dairy free and started taking Slippery elm in the mornings and saffron tea throughout the day about 8 days ago, interested to know if anyone else has tried the slippery elm. It was really about going dairy free but i thought i'd try to help my digestive tract in the process and replace the calcium.
Have had mixed results really, at first the P stopped scaling and became flat to the touch with less redness but then a couple of days ago it started to get really itchy and some scaling started coming back. It is better than it was and in some areas the redness has broken up into small dots but just wondering if the flare up is my P fighting back (i know, i know but my god sometimes i feel it is more a vindictive demon than a disease) or it's one of those '"worse before it gets better" things. Also i've noticed it's the areas that first appeared when i got P are clearer than the newer ones ?
Anyway , hope your all doing well and having a good weekend.

Thanks Donna, yeah two weeks on the slippery elm /saffron tea and no dairy thing now but its weird, some days i see a real improvement and others (especially the last 3 days) it's really angry and a strong burning sensation, the plaques are much larger but not as flakey. Have made green smoothies with the elm for breakfast and salad for lunch white fish/chicken for tea but ate Salmon on Wed for the first time in about a month and thats the only thing i did differently. They say Salmon is good for P as it's high in omega 3 so maybe it's just a P cycle. Still...going to get a food allergy test as there's a highly recommended one close enough and see what come's of it. Did you stop taking the elm ?
