Soya miracle?
« on: January 19, 2012, 09:55:46 AM »
Ok ... I'm not sure what is going on now because it's been a real psoriasis roller coaster over the past three months.  I'm not almost 80% clear and I think it might be down to soy.  So if anyone has any info on soy that would be appreciated.

Last year I cut down drastically on meat, I still eat a little fish about once a week, so I'm not a full on vegetarian.  I noticed that
the pains in my joints (fingers, toes and wrists) disappeared.  I started on the green shakes but didn't do them every day - but I did make them with soy milk.  The p on my body started to calm down and even recede a little.

The slow but steady improvements stalled in October / November (no biggie it's getting dark after all) until I got food poisoning (awful) and a throat infection (this was Nov/Dec).  As my boyfriend said "It looks like a bomb went off inside you."  The p flared with an extra helping of guttate ... it was a monumental mess.  It got worse and worse, very very disheartening to see lots of good progress just disappear in a matter of days.

At the end of December I started some work in London and braced myself for further outbreaks.  Only that didn't happen.  The p started to get better and 4 weeks later it's practically all gone.

The only thing that has changed is that in the morning I have a large soya latte ... I'm still eating mostly vegetarian so that hasn't changed.  I didn't have a large milky latte a day before so the soya is a new addition.  In fact I haven't even cut out diary, I still eat plenty of cheese and have milk in my tea.

I'm obviously hugely pleased about this unexpected improvement.  Only I'd also love to know if it really is the soya or if it's some other variable I have not accounted for.

Hi,
wow that sounds great! Soya makes my skin worse but if it's your miracle cure then at least you know and that's fab! Hope it continues. I've switched to hemp milk as neither soya or dairy seems to work for me. I think I need to cut down on meat though.

The Soya may be helping but it is probably a mixture of your diet overall. Hope it continues to work for you.

It is probably the lecithin in the soya.  A french Dermatologist uses high doses of marine lecithin to treat psoriasis. Hisproduct is called Psoriacalm

Thx for input all.  Will look into the Leicithin link (who knows this might be my P's achilles heel).

I also liked the bomb description my boyfriend came up with - made me laugh at the time (which I sorely needed).
