Starting alternative experiment on PA
« on: September 27, 2011, 04:41:28 PM »
For the last couple of months I have severe PA in my right wrist, and recently my left wrist (not as bad as right) and some in the foot. I took 12 Advils (ibu) a day and still I had pain. Now switched to Aleve (4 daily) but still have pain. I have started an experiment with the following:

-gluten free diet and lots of veggies/fruit, raw and some cooked(already 2 weeks)
-home made yoghurt (already 2 weeks) from BF
-peppermint (from BF--just restarted it) (I have also been taking the rest of the BF)
-curcumin (from Life Extension which claims superior absorption)just started it.

I also drink Burdock Root tea everyday.
I will keep you posted.

Problem is, if I improve I won't know which factor(s) did it!

aren't there some possible side effects, like on the liver?

I was talking to a professor in alternative medicine who highly recommended gotu kola.  Thus, I try it from time to time - in the vegetable juice - if I can find it fresh.

All herbs and medicine have side effect, but this one has been used for thousands of years (?) - I think - in ayurvedic medicine, so I think it should be quite ok.

Remember there are cautionary disclaimers wrt ibuprofen and the liver.  So it might not be prudent to take gotu kola and ibuprofen daily, or at least not at the same time of day.

Thanks Farang, I might try gotu kola one day. Yes Lazza you are right that I shouldn't try it whilst taking ibu (BTY I switched to Aleve, but same principle).

Thanks for posting details of your experiment Eve. I'm hoping that you'll be able to narrow down what is actually causing your PA soon!

How is the experiment coming along?
