Superdrug vitamin E cream - surprisingly ok
« on: September 02, 2011, 07:48:52 PM »
My local superdrug had run out of aqueous cream and I bought the next best thing ... the vitamin E cream.  And I'm really impressed - it seems to moisturise well generally, smells pleasant and seems to be fairly decent at keeping my psoriasis patches moisturised throughout the day.  I am applying a thick layer in the morning and then again before bed ... but it absorbs much faster than the aqueous cream and isn't as greasy ...

It's not a cure by any stretch but it is making my skin feel quite ok so thought I'd add it as a tip for anyone else.

its probably better than aqueous , thinking now is that its better to keep aqueous for using as soap substitute rather than as a moisturiser  :)

vitamin E

Good tip.

Also may explain why things like green leafy vegetables in the form of smoothies and juices are so good for clearing P from the inside out. Green leafy vegetables are high in Vit E.

Cold pressed wheatgerm oil is also high in Vit E and makes a nice skin mouistriser too.

I don't suffer from insanity....I enjoy every minute of it!

To me this looks more like an advertising campaign than genuine advice for P sufferers.

I used to have more flakes than Kellogg's

"To me this looks more like an advertising campaign than genuine advice for P sufferers.".....

First of all, the patent was filed almost 30 years ago......have you ever seen any company pushing Vitamin E cream for P?

Secondly, the asignee is a Japanese company......and Japan has one of the lowest incidence of P in developed countries, there must be something we can learn from them.

Vit E has not been proven to help psoriasis.

Even though vitamin E is good for many other skin conditions, it doesn't necessarily do anything for psoriasis. This is because most of vitamin E's beneficial qualities have not been scientifically proven. It is thought that vitamin E does not penetrate the outer layers of the skin, and not only can it not do that, it can cause severe allergic reactions when used onto the skin.

The best you can hope for is less itching and less scab formation. So, go for scientifically proven products  ;)

Hi Nick

I know this isn't a medicated cream - it's simply a decent moisturiser.  I do not make any claim as to it actually helping with the P as a medicine, however it is helping considerably with the scaling and is keeping my skin soft and supple.
