I went to the Vitality Show at Olympia this weeknd and spoke to a nutritionist on one of the stands.

I told him what I take already and asked his opinion on what he thought I should be taking.

I take...

- Lecitihin
- Selenium with vitamins ACE
- Fish oil
- kelp
- Aloe vera (capsules because I haven't been near a shop that sells juice for a while)

He suggested

- Taking a pure selenium and a seperate vitamin e capsule as they work better in isolation rather than combined.
- Maybe dropping the kelp as it is sometimes linked with bad skin.
- Adding Zinc as this is excellent for the skin repairing itself.
- Drinking the aloe vera rather than capsules.

I also asked him about milk thistle and he said capsules rather than drops, and not to take it over long periods as the body simply doesn't need it.

He also said with the supplements to have a break every so often. I tend to take them Monday to Friday and not over the weekend and he said that was perfect.

Hi Emma

Since having my gallbladder out I have been told to take Lecitihin too to help break down the saturated fats.  Do you take it in the powder form or capsule?

Have had a look at it in the health shops but it says it's 97% fat! Do you know how it works?!

Seems as though you 're a supplement expert!!

Thanks

Angela

I take capsules - 1 a day.
I started when I was doing Pagano as it was something he recommends.

I'll look it up in the book later and post the reasoning behind it.

Hi Angela, don't forget that all the citrus pure essential oils help with the breakdown of fats in the diet.
Have a bath or a little tummy rub with 4 - 5 drops of either grapefruit, orange or lemon every day for a week

Couldn't get on the PC again last night but have found this today.............

"Lecithin is manufactured in the body by choline and inositol. Lecithin is high in phosphorous and unites with iron, iodine and calcium to give power and vigor to the brain. A lack of lecithin can cause forget-fullness, digestive problems, intolerance to fats, nausea, hypertension, joint and muscle problems (bursitis, cramps  and soreness).

Lecithin is a smart thing to supplement in any person's diet because it is used a lot by your body everyday. It also helps with the absorption of fat soluable vitamins. Lecithin also enables fats like cholesterol to be dispersed in water and then removed from your body.

In Europe, it has been used to treat hepatitis, alcoholic hepatitis and cirrhosis of the liver."

Here's the link...........
