The Alternative Centre, Fulham, London
« on: May 27, 2004, 03:01:25 PM »
I am looking for information from anyone who has had any experience of using The Alternative Centre in London.  I came across this clinic while logging in to the whatreallyworks.co.uk website.

The treat all skin problems with a particular emphasis on psoriasis since the founder had psoriasis for 25 years.  They promise to get to the route cause of your skin problem and help you keep it clear.   The downside is it costs a whacking 250quid for a consultation which is why I would like to speak to anyone who´s tried this option to know if it really is worth the money.   I have an appointment booked for July.   Please advice soon.

if it dont do as they claim, sounds to good to be true making
a promise concerning p. or any skin disorder, check them out at the local trading standing office, i had quick search bt coulden't find anythink.
ps/
hi just found there site nothing about a promise!, they state there is no cure for psoriasis? they only
recomend that you have a couse of there holistic treatment be fore you go to the dead sea

Hi,
I went to the Alternative Centre over the course of about 18 months and it is very expensive and didn't make much difference.

The treatment involoves a consultation every month or so at £50 during which you are tested with some machine and then you are told you need to take a mix of  tinctures at £15 each (you need at least 13 = £195) and you are also told what you can and can't eat (basically avoid red meat, alcohol, peppers, tomatoes, chillies, etc and eat lots of veg, nuts, vitamins). You will of course also need to buy some other products from them which are in fact just olive oil with some dead sea salts disolved in them and cost around £15 a pop.

In my humble opinion you would be better off buying the book called healing psoriasis (I think) by Sandra Gibbons and following the diet and it would only cost you about £6. The diet is a cut down version of the Pagano diet

Good luck

Hi Maya and welcome to the forum  :)

I went to the Alternative Centre a number of times between 1998 and 2000 (when a consultation cost £70!). I found that it did help and the p certainly reduced substantially, even though I found it very hard to stick to the diet.

I have previously posted more about it in the following thread -

Hiya Maya
I am just down the road from Fulham, Never heard of this place? seems very costly, I would be looking for 100% guarantee on healing up my P.

They use the Vega testing machine which in my view is utter nonsense. No scientific study has ever shown it tobe accurate. FOllow pagano's book  or the book mentioned above and see a nutrionalist.

I went here too a few years back after reading Sandra Gibbons book as my P was bad and I was pretty fed up.  I saw her and at another visit a man (can't remember who), it was very expensive, what with the visits, the supplements etc. and it did not make a bit of difference.
Funny enough although I was also tested for foods that affected me, I was banned from the exact foods as stated above in the post by willy.  Out of curiosity, I went to another place to get tested on a different machine by a different consultant and I was allergic (apparently) to a completely new set of foods.  Neither worked.

Putting P aside, keeping to a healthy natural diet (no processed etc.) is basically beneficial to everyone.  And also the no meat from the clinic founded by Sandra Gibbons is not very odd when you read her book and find out she is a vegetarian.
When life gets you down, have a rest, then come back fighting.

Yes, I attended  the Alternative centre several years ago, over the course of about a year, and came back considerably poorer and still with psoriasis! I don't think their treatments work (I was encouraged to spend £100's of pounds on Bach flower remedies, I had to pay in advance, and several times they never arrived in the post) They do give out sensible advice about diet and lifestyle, but you can find this anywhere without having to spend 100's of pounds. E.g John Pagono's book.

I do remember when I first went there asking how many people they had actually cured. Needless to say I did not get a straight answer!

Actually, I would still like yo know the answer to this question. If you do end up going, could you ask them and let me know?!
