Thinking about UVB home treatment..
« on: January 19, 2012, 01:58:04 PM »
Hi there, i'm 26 years old and have plaque psoriasis on my elbows, knees and legs.

My doctor put me on Dovobet, but to no avail, so now i'm looking into getting the UVB home lamp kits but don't know much about them.

I THINK I also have Guttate psoriasis, is it possible to have both? If so will the UVB treatment work for both?

I'm also curious to find out if it is possible to get the UVB home kits on a prescription from my doctor.

Any help any of you can provide would be great, thank you.

Jamie  :)

so you got a few choices buy or get for free

obviously for free - drs then derm dept at hospital where they will administer sessions 3x a week bit of a ball ache but if you want rid youll do anything hey

to buy you have companies like phb but for a full bed your looking at a grand..

dovobet is real crappy stuff - try looking thru these boards get on a good diet get some uvb

i think before you buy is go get it for free at hospital - would nt wanna see that grand wasted if you dont clear..  if you do clear and there the percentage is very high and you have a grand go buy one and use the bed as a top up once a week you might save yourself further hospital visits...  uvb is nomally the 2nd line of treatment after the creams dont work - for me legal creams have never worked and the one that have have been banned straight away..  uvb has been the only treatment leaving me with no P and a nice tan..

same as the sun - skin cancer - but used correctly can be fine - if you tan easy then your less likely to burn - thats why i say let the hospital do all the calculations and then copy them if you have good results happy days but rule of thumb is pretty much go up in 15 sec blocks.. so nothing to strenuous to calculate..

Ive had psoriasis for 12years, once so bad it covered my whole body (eurythroderma or sumat). Ive tried everythin from months on diets, juicing, no drinkin smokin, chinese medicine and all the ngs sh**e. Only thing worked for me was the dead sea in israel n jordan. Costs a fortune but is well worth it. Ive currently got a full 6ft uvb sunbed (tlo1 is the one you want). In between dead sea trips it keeps me relatively clear. The more i use it the better. Supposedly highers ur risk of skincancer but it keeps me happy and theres no way im goin back to how i was
