VEG Oil!!!
« on: August 10, 2004, 02:25:40 PM »
I Just know I am goin to regret posting this.....

This weekend I had a little accident :-[ with some expanding foam, managed to get my left arm half covered in it, bit of a problem cause I have quite hairy arms, anyway it set quite solid, water/soap would not shift it, so I read the container it said wash area and dap with VEG Oil!!  So I went and bought some, spent the next 45 mins rubbing it into my arm(thinking I am the vegtable), didnt shift the foam, but this week my elbow is about 30% better than my right arm, normally they are the same.

So i just wanted to know if this is the Oil or just a coincidance if anyone knows, or have I discovered an alternate treatment!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

depends whwat type of veg oil it was? so many brands so many different types. I am afraid i am no cooking expert.

Foe example olive oil is well documented annedoately for clearing up some people's psoriasis.

i'd try the right arm as well!

It would be funny if it was the expanding foam that had done the trick though!

Seriously - might give this a go - veg oil is certainly cheap enough.

My husband uses olive oil regularly as a moisturiser. Much cheaper than all the creams and does the same job ie. moisturising the skin.

I have used olive oil as a body moisturiser in the past. It's great and cheap!

I have also used it on the scalp and it works too.

Only negative thing is you smell like a chip shop...and it was difficult to wash it out of the hair.

I have heard that Olive Oil is good for P, one book went so far as to recommend taking a spoonful internally daily :-X but not veg oil -
You must try the other arm and let us know (obviously without the expanding foam....I just don't want to ask ;D )

I think, in the interests of science and all us P sufferers, you ought to 'repeat' the foam process everywhere but one small limb and see if the magic cure occurs again...

;D ;) ::)

I get arachis oil(peanut) from GP,  You could buy it in a chemist but why bother if you can get it on prescription.  It was my old derm who told me about vege oil.  He used to say" don't use baby or crisp'ndry cause they were too refined."  His advice was" the cheaper the better.  Olive oil was probably the best but too expensive for your skin when you can get the same results with something less smelly and half the price".
The trick with hair is not to wet it before washing.   Rub shampoo on to the  scalp with adding minimal water till you get it all over scalp and hair.  Use the strongest shampoo that you know will make your hair feel "dry"  I've even used fairy liquid for this part.  Rise with water as hot as you can stand then give hair another wash or 2with your shampoo for P using cooler water. Finish up with shampoo for dry/damaged or coloured hair then your own conditioner.  In the begining I used to have to do about 5 shampoos onto wet hair till my hairdresser told me to put it on dry hair
