Psoriasis
An inflammatory condition of the skin resulting in red to brown patches on the legs, knees, scalp, elbows and ears, with silvery scaling. There is a hereditary factor resulting in an overgrowth of the skins outer layer. There are often flare-ups followed by a period of remission.

The underlying cause is still unknown but it does appear that the body does not breakdown fats more efficiently resulting in leukotrienes that can cause the inflammation of the skin through the bloodstream. The build up of toxic waste also results in the gut may also be linked to psoriasis. In any case, an immune system boost would be very beneficial in psoriasis.

Dietary restrictions
Avoid dairy products, red meat, fried foods, tomatoes and potatoes.

Essential Fatty Acids ( EFA )
The inclusion of these highly unsaturated fatty acids has a wide role to play in psoriasis. Firstly, they bond with saturated fats (ones that have not been metabolised). Secondly, they are involved in the production of prostaglandins that have an anti-inflammatory effect. It is a well-known fact that patients with psoriasis are deficient in omega 3 fatty acids. Thirdly, they aid in preventing dryness of the skin.

Milk Thistle
The inclusion of milk thistle is of paramount importance because of its detoxifying properties in the liver. The liver is a factory geared to eliminate toxins but in the case of psoriasis, some of these are still getting through the liver into the bloodstream resulting in outbreaks of psoriasis. Milk thistle also reduces cell proliferation, a major effect of psoriasis.

Vitamin A   This vitamin protects skin tissue and is necessary for a healthy skin. It lowers polyamine levels that lead to clinical improvement in psoriasis.

Zinc
Zinc is a great healer of connective tissue and in fact most skin creams contain zinc for this purpose. It has some anti-inflammatory effect, making it particularly useful for psoriasis. It is also required for the metabolism of protein, which is required for the healing process of skin.

Psorzema
Derma E Psorzema is a safe and effective blend of herbal extracts and vitamins that provides natural relief from the symptoms of scaling, flaking, itching and irritated dry skin associated with psoriasis.

Neem, Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Bearberry are among the many healing natural ingredients that are used in this pleasant moisturising and anti-inflammatory skin cream. This cream is parabens free.
