Thanks for all the research, BJ! I read also that milk from grass fed cows may not have as many lectins as milk from grain fed cows.

I take my multi only 3 times a week so as not to get too much vit A. Dr Andrew Weil sells multi vitamins without pre formed retinol, just beta carotene, but his vitamins are expensive, I never bought anything from him.

i agree, i break my multi in half...but i still take the 500mg of C also...ideally, the diet should provide most of the necessary vitamins...

..there isn't much info on specific lectins..not well studied ...and complex as to their effects

Thats really helpful Eve and Bj. How did the multi became a part of the formula? It looks like a broad spectrum shot by adding multivitamin.

Hi dashiv....initially is was a small one a day type multi..or a childrens multi...to fill in any gaps in diet due to the variety of cultures and lifestyles etc...but not so much as to interfere with the rest of the formula ..as Evy pointed out with the Vitamin A and D conflict....so it was to give us a common baseline in a sense..

i see i need extra C  above what's in a multi to reduce my uric acid levels...as the back pain was spinal gout...completely gone with the extra C..interesting..it had been nagging me for three months off and on....and i thought it was this chair!.. ::)

Hi, BJ, I know you had gout problems in your toes in the past, but did you ever actually get a blood test and saw that your uric acid was elevated? Or you did you deduce that from your good response to vitamin C? Just curious as I know you don't visit doctors... :D
But it's good your back pain went away, and even Mayo Clinic recommends vitamin C to reduce uric acid levels, as well as coffee and cherries!

Another good thing about paleodiet besides being good for psoriasis is that it makes you lose weight! I lost 2.5 kg in a month (about 6 pounds). (not that I was fat--just a bit over padded in some areas). So planning to continue this...

hi eve....simple deduction....normally a strong back, the pain coincided with a high purine diet.. vitamin C proved effective within days ..in the literature uric acid levels can appear normal..and absence of pain for a couple of months now.. and  i didn't have to get rid of my favorite chair.. :D

now it could have been psa, which i have had..or post polio syndrome, common at my age, even osteoarthritis or a slipped disc, pulled muscle..unusual as i cut and split six full cords of wood each summer and the back has held......but i have a proclivity towards gout or pseudo gout as well as a high purine diet..sardines, venison oatmeal etc...and the C has kept it in complete check....

yes, Eve, the paleo diet is a leaner way to go.

What is a cord of wood? And what do you do with the wood? Do you have a fireplace?

It's good you found a non pharmaceutical way to control your gout. My Dad had gout pretty bad and took allopurinol to decrease his uric acid level, and colchecine during an attack. I wish I had known about vitamin C then!

Hi Dashiv,

I went online to Walgreens and could not find the product that you refered to as "hydrolatum". Their online site will tell you if it is available in the store, online or both, but when I search for hydrolatum, it comes back with no results and asks if you meant "pretrolatum?". When I enter petrolatum, it comes back with 9 results, none of which are called hydrolatum.

Can you be more specific about the product name or description?

I'm interested in this product to see if I can use it as a vehicle for other substances.

Thank You.
