Hi phish....are you also on the humira?...your doc should know...
Hi BJ, yup, been on humira for 7 weeks. My derm is not happy that my skin is getting worse but she's just crossing her fingers that with more time it will kick in.
Yes, I quite understand that being on humira we have no idea how the formula will help.
I guess I am wanting to get my self going on the formula and green smoothies in prep for maybe having to come off humira at some stage if it contiinues not to work. It's supposed to be playing with the T cells that your formula should be instructing. So who knows what  can happen. But it's helping me keep cheerful and hopeful so that alone is good. And doing the forumula and smoothies has helped me eat better and more healthily.
I try and take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Interesting... the guide for EasiYo says to put in boiling water at the start. Surely that would kill everything that's there initially?

well you are not boiling the yoghurt, it's in a container. The water you mix in will not start boiling, it just heats it all up to the right temp. And as their sales point is the whole healthy bacteria thing, one has to assume it doesn't. And as , using easy yo to make my own, I can use the reamins of the first as a culture for the second, it clearly doesn't kill everything off.
Sorry can't help you re re adding boiling - never done that. Though they do say you can do that if not set enough.

Hope that helps

hi H...yes, that might sterilize the mix..but i don;t know if that temp generated would be high enough (180F) to break the protein bonds in ordinary milk..hence the use of UHT. From my understanding, if the protein bonds are not broken in ordinary milk, one ends up with a soup, stringy mess... :D..as an experiment i heated milk just to boiling and let it then cool  and added the starter to see what i would end up with..won't know til later..

hi phish...its something i would do also....certainly vitamin D is needed by most, the multi is not out of line...the b12 and folate are also reasonable...the only exception is the ibu..and low dose to see how it goes is also reasonable for most...

so i agree with you... and i believe the itching is a good sign ..but  bothersome

six years ago...i just assumed the itching  was part of my severe disease..but it passed after a week...and the p reduced

let me repost this as ibu is always a point of interest

hi alih...i have taken the one low dose ibu for 5 years...missing a few days here and there ...but then i also take it for gout once in a while or stiffness...

I would take it only as long common sense dictates you need it..ask your doctor and read the literature if it is a concern which as with any drug or chemical it should be...its something you'll have to decide.....i take the 200mg dose with a snack in the evening..it lasts about 6-8 hours in the body so its out of my system by morning and  hypothetically allowing my body time to produce the necessary prostaglandins we would normally need to protect the stomach and a host of other benefits..... i sleep like a rock on it..and continue to have good blood pressures from the formula..110/65 p 59

.. a low dose may be beneficial...later studies suggest high doses can be worse...You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

and  in more recent research... ibu might have a unique effect....You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login   i believe it also effects the inflammatory pathways associated with the ll-37 peptide we have an inordinate amount of..

and in colon cancer  You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

which suggests..if one is a mouse, ...one ibuprofen/day may be something to consider also :D

I think you mean UHT... you probably saw the HTC from my signature because I typed my last post on my phone :P

I am using UHT milk... 72p a litre from Asda.  Their Smart Price range (the cheapo range) was 49p, lol!

Hi hshah
Yes as purple phish says the boiling water goes in the outer container.
If you use UHT milk you don't need to sterilise it so shouldn't have to add anything to it.
The temperature of the yoghurt mix will never get too high as only the outer layer which is in contact with the boiling water will get hot. There are still plenty of microbes left and definitely will get into the billions (maybe not the trillions in bj's method)
You don't need to buy expensive UHT, the cheaper basic one will do just as well.
You can use some of the resulting yoghurt as a starter for the next batch so there must be plenty of viable microbes
When making yoghurt the lactose is broken down. I don't know if it's the lactose in dairy that's the problem with some people.

Right, tooth is sorted and dentist said that the infection should clear up in under a week. He gave me some antibiotics to help.

I have also noticed that during the week I've started on the yogurt, shakes and supplements my psoriasis hasn't been firey at all... almost flat and any flakes come off with warm water. Still a little itchy but no longer hurts when I move :-D

My first batch of yogurt should also be done today, so will try that out when I get home :-)
