What does everyone add to there baths??
« on: February 04, 2012, 09:18:47 AM »
Just a question, what does everyone add to their baths? Mainly things you add to try to help with skin moisturisation?

I've tried perfume free bubble bath milk, bergamot oil, clay baths, dead sea salts so far. (And oats when I was young!) which the oils and milks have helped abit and am interested to try something new!

Thanks

Hi Jamie,   I add oilatum to my bath about 4 times a week, it really does make all the difference.  The other times nothing or a nice rice bubble bath like Dove or Parmolive, the milk ones ( I know I shouldn't but I like bubbles ).  The oilatum works a treat and I get it from my gp along with the double base,  and having a PPP card means it cost me no extra.

I also use a dead sea salt scrub once or twice a  week which is in essential oils, it leaves my skin feeling lovely.  Can be stingy if you have any broken bits of P though!  (or any other little cuts or scrapes on your skin).

I was just reading your thread about dry skin on your face too  :(   I've never had much P on my face so can't really advise on that.  I do however have to put moisturiser on all of my skin (even in the pre P days) after a bath shower or even just a face rinse.  If I don't my skin just feels very tight, dry and uncomfortable.   I usually use oil of olay on my face,  inexpensive yet effective.  There are varying thickness (depending ony your age  ;D ;D  I use the heavy duty stuff   ;D ;D)  .  Try using a night cream moisturiser instead of your coconut oil.  It doesn't do much for my wrinkles but leaves my skin nice and supple.

(not rice bubble bath . . . rich bubble bath  :P)

Dead Sea salt, a splash of grapeseed oil and a few drops of of either carrot seed, peppermint, bergamot, lavender, cedarwood or chamomile pure and natural essential oils. I generally use two of the essential oils.

Always look on the bright side

Have also heard Oilatum is good.
I use Palmolive as a shower wash and that seems fine on my skin , but Dove makes me itch like crazy and as for Imperial Leather product or Radox , a big no no
Someone bought me oil of olay one christmas bit i only used it once, bright red, itchy face wasnt good
Nivea products are good

Hear hydromol is pretty good too

I use Eucerin in the shower, don't usually have baths. And I use the shampoo from Humankind Organics which had done my scalp a power of good, as a shower gel too -it would make a good bubble bath I reckon, smells great  :)

Thanks everybody! I tried Oilatum a while back and was very good! I think Cetreban and hydromol are all similar, consisting of
liquid paraffin in varying percentages and found a doublebase bath emollient bath additive so have ordered a tub of that to try next!

I was liking the idea of rice bubble bath Trish  ;D I like bubbles too... reminds me of being a kid with the old matey bubble bath!! Thanks for the tip on the night moisturiser, I will have a look for that!

I have to be very careful Janet too with trying new products as my skin is very sensitive and I remember trying some head and shoulders and turning into a giant sore flake for a few weeks  :-[

Might mix the bath additive with bergamot oil or some other oil too
