XTRAC Velocity 700 laser
« on: July 11, 2011, 10:16:49 AM »
I came across this while searching for P treatments. Looks promising if it is going to bring long remissions and less side effects. Does anyone know more about these trials?

wow Panch, that's exciting! Except for the clobetasol, I do not like using it because when I use it it causes HPA axis suppression in me.(HPA= hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal)--it messed with my adrenal cortisol production-> feelings of depression, weakness, fatigue etc.

Yasmine

That is something new I have learnt today about Colabetasol. Never used it anyway. Thought this treatment is mainly Laser.

yes Panch, mainly laser, but it says on the link that laser was used in the trial in combination with clobetasol spray and calcitriol.

I tried the XTRAC laser for a short period of time and had mixed results.  Each treatment left me feeling like I had a sunburn on the spots they treated. They are able to use higher doses of light because they are concentrated on your plaques only. The nurse was the person administering the treatments and a few times she would treat areas that didn't even have any p. Those mistakes especially hurt because they were just normal skin that maybe had a little imperfection or spot there.

When the nurse didn't burn normal skin or give too high of a dose of light to the p affected areas my skin did respond well. Just like it does when bathing in the sun during the summer only these laser treatments only took a few minutes compared to laying outside for 45 mins.

Sounds like not a viable treatment as clobetasol also has significant side effects  :-\ :-\
