Yeast the beast.....
« on: January 12, 2007, 08:00:47 PM »
OK I have a new plan.  (I apologise now if this as already been chewed over!)
First of all here is the story to the lead up to my plan.
Trying hard to cut down after Christmas and found myself hungry ALL the time.  I discovered BOVRIL (beefy yeast based drink).  Not had it since I was a kid and found it really stopped my savoury cravings - I was well pleased!
Little did I know what was about to happen to me.  Now my P was pretty bad any as per after all the junk I'd eaten! but OMG about 5 days into my Bovril routine I felt like I had 3rd degree burns!  The P was fiery red and swollen.  Burny and itchy as hell and I was COVERED!  What a reaction!
Started to research yeast and psoriasis.  Uh-oh!  Connections all over the place with yeast infections and skin complaints like P and Ex - now I had a vague recollection about the link but had forgotten all about it!
The plan ;):
I'm going to try a couple of weeks without yeast: Baked goods, cheese, mushrooms, vinegar, alcohol (ouch) etc.  I'm also going to start taking prebiotics (which help nurture good bacteria) and probiotic capsules (more potent than the yoghurt and less calories!).

What do you reckon?  Has anybody else tried this?  Does anyone else fancy trying it too and we can compare notes!!

Hi Miss F

Im sorry that you had a flair due to your drink........but i think there is a connection between P and yeast tho my self  im not sure but i do remembert reading it somewhere , you may wish to do some work on the pagano diet , which removes all yeast and nightshade s from your diet. Im on the palieo  diet and its not bad , more work to do but im working on it. he he.

   good luck

the arguements over the links between candida and psoriais is basically the yeast arugement. Provbotics and prebiotics are certanly a good iea.

FOS is the best preiobitc and come sin numerous brands but higher nature does one.
probitics - good ones are bio-kult, solgar adicophilus and pb8 from victoria health

a good multivitamiin is the multibionta cause it contains probitcs also as well as vits and minerals.

Yeast is very rich in vitamin B . This vitamin helps nervous system to be balanced . i also suggest intake of vitamin B complex and if yeast is working for you also supplementing with potassium ( sodium is in water ) these two play main role in nervous system.

I'd like to know if it worked too. I cut out mushrooms last year and have actually noticed a difference and I am now cutting out yeats in bread and buying yeast free bread that is also gluten/wheat/diary free too.
although I have to say bread that is wheat/gluten free and still has sone yeast in tastes better...lol but I;ve cut down on bread in general too so trying to eat it in mdoerate amounts.
