This is a general balancing qigong, in that it balances the energy levels within the body. It also works on breaking down energy blockages in the energy system, these can be caused by social and sexual hang-ups, trauma, bad posture or diet etc. This is the first qigong we learn and one that we will practice for the rest of our lives. This is a great way to learn to relax the mind and body as most people try and use their muscular strength to stand for long periods of time and find it is when they learn to relax the muscles they do not need that they actually enjoy standing and want to stand for longer. This also needs to be performed in a meditative state where we try and clear our ‘mental chatter’, this helps us to relax the mind releasing stress.
Anyone see the channel 4 programme on standing like a tree.Ive found it very energising and calming at the same time
