Hi Mary I've got fingers like you.the end of my index finger is bent over at the end on my right hand and the left one i can move from side to side.(don't do it much because it hurts and also makes me feel funny) My left thumb also bends to one side and my 2 middle fingers are wondering off in different directions too.

Since taking mtx they are alot better not so swollen and red, but since mtx increased to 15mg my I've noticed my hair coming out more.
Everyting else is fine, bloods no neausa or mouth ulcers etc, so why my hair.

I'm going hospital on Thursday so I will ask them.

Hi Karen
The first time I took MTX hair loss was the only side effect, kicked in at about 15mg.
Very noticable, more hair in shower trap and constant hair on my clothes. One rheumy suggested increasing folic acid to 6 per week, not sure if it helped.
This time round I'm having more general side effects but hair OK at the moment but only on 10mg at the moment.

My toes are going twisted...my little toes especially on both feet. They are totally twisted under my other toes, so when I'm walking I'm actually stood on them :(. I also have swelling in one of my toes, so on a bad day it is twice the size it is meant to be :(

I would post a pic, but my feet are really not pretty lol
HELP...........................

On my right hand my little finger is completely twisted (permanently bent in two and twisted up from the base at a 75 degree angle and outwards at about the same) and all the others are bent over at the end. My thumbs on both hands are hooked in at an odd angle and now the fingers on my left hand are heading in the same direction, again the smallest is the most deformed. My rheumy thinks the damage to my right hand and thumbs is now so bad it is probably irreversible the doppler shows no active disease in my right little finger and decreasing signals in my thumbs. The nerves are also affected, I don't feel hot or cold very well and she suspects my tendons have snapped in my left little finger rendering it completely immobile.

My toes are also a bit deformed again the smallest were the first to go and my elbows and wrists are also a bit twisted and my elbows haven't straightened for about 9 months now.

So now really apparent I have arthritis!

Hope you get something that works and that the damage doesn't get too bad.

Take care
