Blood Problems-- AGAIN !!
« on: March 09, 2010, 02:36:07 PM »
I'm so fed up !! i went to have my 3rd infusion of infliximab yesterday , id had my monthy blood test for mtx the last time i went so they had the results and yet again it showed my platelet, white blood cell and neutraphil counts had dropped , they did another blood test , and i was due one anyway  and i had my inflixmab, and then this morning the nurse called me to say that they are still low and that i have to stop my mtx for 2 weeks and then go back to the hospital for another test.
I specificaly didnt want to go back on mtx because this is the whole reason they had to take me off it in the first place, i have only been taking 7 mg for 4 weeks and again its done this, they only wanted me back on it to tide me over for when i got to the 8 weekly infusions, i hadnt even got to that point yet and its messed my bloods up !
I have to now wait and see how it all is  after my next test and see what they want to do i just dont want to be in the position i was in before where they took me off everything and left me suffering for 7 months, not when ive waited so long for the infliximab and im now better than ive been in a long while  :(

Sorry to hear it. Its a real pain in the butt, when these things happen and it throws a spanner in the works.
Hope you get it sorted

Feel for you Eve  :-[

I'm sure that everyone on oral meds get that feeling of total dread when having blood tests and getting the results.

Only advice I can give is to be firm and train your derm better. Ask, No DEMAND, that he/she listens to your views and concerns before putting you on medication. Say NO if your experience shows that one drug will cause you problems.

Good luck and lets hope that coming of MTX gets ya bloods back where they belong.

Hope it all gets sorted for you quickly Eve and your bloods get back to normal.   I'm sure they won't leave you in that position again, without treatment for so long.

Hopefully by the time your next infusion is due your platelet counts etc. will all be back up.

oh how frustrating, round and round you go, bit like Wizzer's blood test story!

I suppose they do have to try every option and permutation, but everything takes so long and then you get exactly the same result!

Howl on your behalf Eve Marie! Bloody difficult to cope with! my sympathy!

Its bloody evil stuff , mtx, its bad enough i have this condition, bad enough i now have to be hooked to a drip just so i can move with ease and be relitively pain free but to have that make it so i could get seriously ill at the slightest infection or bug i dont need , i just have to wait now and see what the next bloods show , but what ever happens they can bog off if they think im taking any more mtx !!
