Yep everyone is different, for some people it doesnt do anything for them (they can't metabolise it into morphine) and for others they get easily dependant on it- which is why there is such a big drive in pharmacy at the moment to try to make sure people are only using it when it is appropriate for their pain and for a short period of time if self medicating.

Glad to hear you are now settled and getting some relief Manxmaid :)

I take codiene on its own because paracetomol upsets my stomach and I'm ok with it although I find it doesn't last long pain relief wise

I have got to take the co-codamol exactly 4 hours between or it lapses, the pain is only relieved for approx. 2 hrs every time. but at least it's something and it sits ok in my stomach. I have not found anything else.

I have been put on Targinact, it's great and I only have to take it twice a day

Thanks  Manx.  I will follow up with Gp as my roomy appointment has been moved from May to November. I got lecture from my mother-in-law last night about how co-codamol can cause fissures in the back passage due to the constipation effects. She was checked out for this a few years ago due to long term use of co-codamol!
